Barcelona losing Lamine Yamal scenario

Yamal is a strong candidate for the Ballon d'Or in the near future.

In an interview with TV3 , president Laporta admitted that the contract extension with Yamal is not yet complete, but he believes an agreement will be reached soon.

“He is Catalan, a loyal Barca fan and very well advised,” he affirmed.

Yamal has been causing a stir around the world recently. However, his current contract with Barca only expires at the end of the 2024/25 season, raising concerns from fans. Especially in the context that Paris Saint-Germain once offered more than 200 million euros to recruit this young star.

If Barcelona do not complete any agreement on a new contract with Yamal before June, the prospect of the player leaving is entirely possible.

Laporta added: “Renewing Lamine’s contract was always difficult. However, things are progressing positively. Lamine is an excellent player, a great person and mature beyond his years. His salary needs to reflect his importance, beyond the age limit."

"Lamine is a special case, he needs to be treated differently. We are balancing the interests of Lamine and the club, and I believe we will reach an agreement. He loves Barca, and the environment around him, from his agent to his family, gives a positive feeling," the Barca chief affirmed.
