Barcelona president Joan Laporta admitted that renewing Lamine Yamal's contract is always a difficult process.

Yamal is a strong contender for the Ballon d'Or in the near future.

In an interview on TV3 , chairman Laporta admitted that the contract extension with Yamal was not yet finalized, but he was confident that an agreement would be reached soon.

"He's Catalan, a loyal Barca fan, and he's been very well advised," he affirmed.

Yamal has been creating a global sensation recently. However, his current contract with Barca only runs until the end of the 2024/25 season, raising concerns among fans, especially given that Paris Saint-Germain previously offered over 200 million euros to sign the young star.

If Barcelona fail to finalize a new contract with Yamal before June, the prospect of the player leaving is entirely possible.

Laporta added: “Extending Lamine’s contract is always difficult. However, things are progressing positively. Lamine is an excellent player, a great person, and more mature than his age. His salary needs to reflect his importance and go beyond his age.”

"Lamine is a special case, requiring special treatment. We are balancing Lamine's interests and the club's, and I believe we will reach an agreement. He loves Barca, and the environment around him, from his agent to his family, is very positive," the Barca head affirmed.
