Taking place from April 7 to 12 in Thailand, the first Kickboxing World Cup 2025 brings together 674 athletes from 45 countries and territories, becoming one of the largest tournaments of this sport ever.

The Vietnamese team, consisting of 13 athletes, under the leadership of 3 coaches and Head of Delegation - Dr. Vu Duc Thinh - President of the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation, brought home a total of 19 medals of all kinds.

In particular, martial artist Hoang Thi Thuy Giang (Dong Nai) excellently won a double Gold Medal in the two categories of 50kg light contact for women and 50kg kick light for women - a rare achievement in the international arena. The remaining Gold Medals belonged to Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ngan ( Ben Tre ) in the 56kg full contact category for women, Phung Thi Hong Tham (Dong Thap) in the 65kg light contact category for women and Hoang Trong Vy (Gia Lai) in the 45kg low kick category for men.

In addition to the prestigious medals, this tournament is also an opportunity for young Vietnamese boxers to compete, improve their professional skills and competitive spirit. Winning a total of 5 Gold Medals, 8 Silver Medals and 6 Bronze Medals against strong opponents in the world shows the remarkable progress of Vietnamese Kickboxing in both strength and training strategy.

Sharing about the significance of the tournament, Head of the delegation Vu Duc Thinh emphasized: “This tournament not only helps athletes gain more experience in international competitions, but also serves as a step to review the force and evaluate direct opponents before the 33rd SEA Games, scheduled to be held at the end of this year also in Thailand. Through this, we have recorded strong teams in the region such as the Philippines or the host country Thailand”.

Notably, the entire budget for this tournament was mobilized from socialized sources by the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation. This is a clear demonstration of the increasingly close cooperation between sports and the business community, creating practical conditions for athletes to compete and mature.

It is expected that on April 12, the Vietnamese Kickboxing team will return home after a journey full of effort and glory in Thailand. According to Decision No. 180/QD-TDTTVN issued by the Department of Physical Training and Sports on April 1, 2025, this is the official international competition trip of the national team in the preparation plan for key tournaments of the year.

The victory at the 1st World Kickboxing Cup is not only the result of the individual efforts of each athlete, but also the result of a systematic training strategy, closely linked between the Federation, the coaching staff and the support of the whole society. Vietnamese Kickboxing has been and is reaching new heights, continuing to affirm its strength in the international arena.
