On August 12th, information from the Office of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province indicated that the Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province, Lam Minh Thanh, had signed a decision on the establishment of a Task Force to resolve disputes and complaints related to land, mineral resources, and construction order in Kien Giang province (hereinafter referred to as the Task Force).

Accordingly, the Task Force will advise on resolving complex cases related to land, mineral resources, and construction order; review difficult and complex cases, promptly identify shortcomings in the implementation of policies, laws, and state management, and promptly recommend corrective measures…

The Task Force has the right to request relevant agencies to provide information and documents related to cases requiring resolution and handling. If necessary, the heads of agencies and units are requested to directly supervise the provision of information and documents to meet the Task Force's requirements…

Previously, in June 2022, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province established a special task force to inspect and handle violations of land, forestry, and construction laws in Phu Quoc city. To date, this task force has inspected and discovered 1,744 cases of violations involving state-managed land and forest land, covering an area of ​​685 hectares (encroachment and illegal construction).

Of these, local authorities handled 1,020 cases administratively and 15 cases criminally involving 23 individuals. The locality recovered an area of ​​198.6 hectares, including over 85 hectares of state-managed land, over 11 hectares of protective forest land, and over 100 hectares of special-use forest land.

Phu Quoc City currently has approximately 420 illegal land subdivisions (without investment project approval or infrastructure construction permits from competent authorities) with a total area of ​​194.97 hectares. More than 900 houses are already built on these subdivisions. In addition, the Phu Quoc City Forest Protection Department has handled 681 cases of forest encroachment and deforestation covering an area of ​​256.2 hectares, and has so far prosecuted 21 cases involving 37 individuals…
