Timely rescue of fishing boat that broke anchor at night while taking shelter from storm at Cua Tung

QTO - On the morning of August 25, information from Cua Tung Border Guard Station said that after promptly assisting a fishing boat that had an accident with its anchor breaking during the night to a temporary shelter, the unit requested the owner of this boat to be ready to move into the port when weather conditions ensure safety.

Previously, at around 0:10 a.m. on August 24, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Van, residing in Quang Ngai province, completed the registration procedures for fishing boat number Qng-95181-TS at Cua Tung Control Station. At that time, there were 6 crew members on board, so to avoid the effects of storm No. 5, the unit instructed the boat to move to anchor at Cua Tung port.

However, at around 9pm the same day, due to the impact of the storm and strong winds, the ship broke its anchor and drifted towards the port entrance. Immediately afterwards, the captain contacted the control station for assistance. Immediately, Cua Tung Border Guard Station sent forces to coordinate and pull the ship to anchor at pier No. 1 at 10:10pm the same day.

Head of Cua Tung Border Guard Station Tran Tuan Dung said that the fishing boat's anchorage was unsafe when storm No. 5 hit. However, the current water level and weather conditions are not yet safe, so the fishing boat cannot move into the port. We have sent forces to coordinate with the boat owner to monitor the water level and weather conditions. As soon as the water level stabilizes, the boat will immediately move into the port to avoid the storm.
