QTO - According to information from the provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, due to the impact of storm No. 5 causing heavy rain, as of 5 p.m. on August 25, the whole province had 2,100 hectares of summer-autumn rice that had fallen, of which 300 hectares were flooded.

Localities with broken rice and heavy flooding include: Hoa Trach Commune 523ha, Vinh Thuy 219ha, Tuyen Hoa 235ha, Nam Ba Don 150ha, Bac Trach 275ha, Hoan Lao 100ha. In addition, 50ha of vegetables and upland crops were flooded.

Head of the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection Bui Phuoc Trang said: Due to the impact of the storm, the weather is still complicated, extreme phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, and strong gusts of wind are at risk of continuing to occur, affecting the unharvested rice area.

Currently, the unit is closely monitoring the developments of storms, floods and storms to proactively advise, propose plans, solutions, instructions, response and disaster recovery appropriate to the actual situation. Immediately after the storm, the unit will strengthen coordination with localities, cooperatives and cooperative groups to grasp the impact of storm No. 5 on agricultural production to promptly propose solutions to restore production, in order to minimize damage caused by the storm.

It is known that in the summer-autumn crop, the whole province planted 38,792 hectares, the first rice area is in the flowering, drying, milky ripening, waxy ripening and harvesting stages; the re-sown area is in the ear-flowering stage. Currently, the whole province has harvested about 4,000 hectares.
