Signing of cooperation agreement to search, collect and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Kien Giang Provincial Task Force Nguyen Luu Trung said that in the past time, Kien Giang province has closely coordinated and received support from leaders at all levels, authorities, task forces, armed forces and people of Koh Kong province in collecting, providing information, guiding, protecting and helping Team K92 search and collect martyrs' remains; meeting the expectations of martyrs' relatives and contributing to fulfilling the responsibility of the State, Army and people of Vietnam towards martyrs who sacrificed their lives for international missions.

Kien Giang province hopes that the Party leaders, government, specialized committees and people of Koh Kong province will continue to pay attention, coordinate, support and create favorable conditions to help Team K92 of Kien Giang province continue its mission of searching for and collecting the remains of martyrs who died in Koh Kong province to achieve the best results.

Mr. Som Khitvien - Deputy Governor, Head of the Koh Kong Provincial Task Force highly appreciated the cooperation between the task forces of the two provinces in the past time. Specifically, in the dry season of 2023-2024, Team K92 of Kien Giang province coordinated with agencies, departments and branches of Koh Kong province to excavate, collect and repatriate 10 remains. The two task forces organized the burial in Kien Giang province.

Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Luu Trung and Mr. Som Khitvien - Deputy Governor of Koh Kong Province exchanged the minutes of signing the cooperation agreement for phase XXIV (dry season 2024-2025).

At the ceremony, the Specialized Committees of Kien Giang and Koh Kong provinces signed a memorandum of cooperation on searching, collecting, and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia in the XXIV period (dry season 2024-2025).

According to the signed document, the two sides agreed that the Koh Kong Provincial Task Force will continue to direct the armed forces, relevant agencies and relevant localities to strengthen propaganda work to all levels of government and people in the province to thoroughly grasp the spirit of the Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Royal Government of Cambodia, comprehensive cooperation documents in general, cooperation in searching, collecting and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia in particular, signed by the leaders and Task Force of the two provinces of Kien Giang and Koh Kong.

Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Luu Trung presented a gift to Mr. Som Khitvien - Deputy Governor of Koh Kong Province.

At the signing ceremony, the Kien Giang Provincial Task Force was authorized by the Vietnamese Government Task Force to provide funding to the Koh Kong Provincial Task Force in coordinating activities to help Team K92 search and collect the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia in Koh Kong province, dry season 2024-2025.

Since implementing the Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia signed on August 28, 2000 in Phnom Penh, up to now, Team K92 of Kien Giang province has searched for and collected 2,132 martyrs' remains in 4 provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia. In Koh Kong province alone, Team K92 has searched for and collected 158 martyrs' remains; of which, in the 2023-2024 dry season, 10 martyrs' remains were searched for and collected.
