On the morning of June 11 (April 24 of the lunar calendar), at the National Historical Site of Tran Khat Chan Temple, the People's Committee of Vinh Loc town held a ceremony to commemorate the 624th death anniversary of Saint Tran Khat Chan - the man who defeated the Champa invaders and kept the country's borders peaceful.

Tran Khat Chan was born in 1366, from Ha Lang village, Vinh Ninh district, now Vinh Loc district. He was the one who defeated the Champa invaders, kept the border peaceful and was awarded the title of General. He died on April 24, Ky Mao year 1399 and was buried at the foot of Don mountain (Dun), Vinh Loc town.

Every year, on the 23rd and 24th of the fourth lunar month, the local people hold the death anniversary of the General, which is also an important festival of the village, to commemorate the merits of the talented general, and at the same time educate the younger generation about the tradition of patriotism. Tran Khat Chan died at a very young age, but the story of his life and career remains a tragic song of indomitable loyalty. His example is forever passed down and praised by later generations.
Admiring his talent and virtue, many places in Thanh Hoa have built temples to worship him. In Vinh Loc district alone, there are 3 places of worship: Vinh Loc town, Vinh Tien commune and Vinh Thinh commune. However, Tran Khat Chan Temple located at the foot of Don Son (in Vinh Loc town) is his main place of worship.
This year, in addition to the ceremony to review the life and career of Saint Tran Khat Chan, the People's Committee of Vinh Loc town also staged many artistic performances to serve visitors from all over the country attending the ceremony.
