Commemorating the 66th Anniversary of the Ben Tre Uprising

In Vinh Long, to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the Ben Tre Uprising, Dong Khoi commune organized a gathering to review revolutionary traditions and inspire a spirit of unity, innovation, and sustainable development.

On January 16th, at the Dong Khoi Historical Site in Ben Tre, the People's Committee of Dong Khoi commune ( Vinh Long province) solemnly organized a gathering to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the Ben Tre Uprising (January 17, 1960 - January 17, 2026). The ceremony took place in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, providing an opportunity to recall the glorious revolutionary traditions of the heroic Dong Khoi homeland, while also fostering pride and responsibility among local officials, Party members, and the people.

At the gathering, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Khoi commune, reviewed the glorious historical journey of the "Dong Khoi" movement in 1960. Sixty-six years ago, implementing Resolution No. 15 of the Central Party Committee and the policy of the Inter-Provincial Party Committee Conference of the Central and Southern Regions, the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee led the people to rise up and fight, creating the historic Dong Khoi movement on January 17, 1960.

The movement began in the three communes of Định Thủy, Bình Khánh, and Phước Hiệp (Mỏ Cày district, now Đồng Khởi commune, Vĩnh Long province), achieving great success, then quickly spreading throughout the province and becoming a powerful revolutionary movement across Southern Vietnam, the Central Highlands, and some provinces in Central Vietnam.

Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that the spirit of the Ben Tre Uprising is not only a historical value but also needs to be inherited and spread in the current period. This spirit is the strength of the great national unity, the aspiration for innovation, rapid and sustainable development, the mindset of daring to think, daring to act, daring to take responsibility, and the determination to translate the Party's policies and resolutions into concrete results.

Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Party Committee, government, and people of Dong Khoi commune in the past period. Despite many difficulties, especially after the reorganization of administrative units and the two-tiered local government structure, the locality has maintained political stability, promoted socio-economic development, taken care of the people's lives, and actively contributed to the overall development of the province.

Looking ahead, provincial leaders urged Dong Khoi commune to continue effectively exploiting its existing potential and advantages, promoting appropriate economic restructuring, and developing sustainable agriculture in conjunction with building new rural areas. At the same time, they emphasized preserving cultural identity, revolutionary traditions, and strengthening historical education for the younger generation, thereby fostering pride, a sense of responsibility, and a desire to contribute to building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland.
