2025 is the first year that students will take the high school graduation exam under the new generaleducation program. Students will take two compulsory subjects: Math and Literature. In addition, they can choose two subjects from the general education program.

The exam still closely follows the content of the current high school general education program, mainly the grade 12 program, with a thinking level of 40% at the knowledge level, 30% at the understanding level and 30% at the application level.

The high school graduation exam will take place on June 26-27, organized simultaneously for two groups of students: the group following the 2006 General Education Program (for candidates who have not graduated or are taking the exam for university admission) and the group following the 2018 General Education Program.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management ( Ministry of Education and Training ) said that the important new point in the high school graduation exam this year is that the exam score only accounts for 50%, the remaining 50% is taken from the results of 3 years of high school study. This change is consistent with the 2018 General Education Program, emphasizing the development of students' abilities and qualities throughout the learning process.
