From above, Cat Cat Village looks like a panoramic landscape painting.

From the center of Sa Pa town, follow the road towards Fansipan mountain for about 3 km, and you will reach Cat Cat village. The village is located in San Sa Ho commune, Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province.

This is a densely populated area inhabited by the Hmong ethnic minority. If a taxi driver tries to discredit Cat Cat Village by telling you all sorts of negative stories, the real reason is... it's too close from the town center. Compared to other villages like Ta Van and Ta Phin, Cat Cat is the closest to Sa Pa town, only 3 km away, and the easiest to get to. Therefore, Cat Cat Village attracts a large number of tourists during their Sa Pa trip .

The small stream winding through the village is a highlight for tourists to take photos.

To save money and avoid the persistent local taxi drivers, we opted for a motorbike for 150,000 VND per day and explored freely. We arrived at Cat Cat village in early summer; the weather wasn't hot, but it wasn't cold either. This made it safer and less slippery compared to walking down the steep slopes with thousands of steps of varying sizes – and, of course, not in an orderly fashion.

The path leading down to Cat Cat village is lined with shops selling local specialties and traditional clothing.

According to local guides, Cat Cat Village is breathtakingly beautiful in autumn, with its vibrant golden rice fields, cool weather, and cascading waterfalls creating a dreamy, captivating, and romantic atmosphere. In winter, Cat Cat Village is shrouded in clouds and white snow. It is also a famous snow-viewing destination in Sa Pa today, with its ethereal mist and blanket of snow covering the entire area.

In the summer, when we arrived, the natural waterfalls cascaded down in a torrent of white foam. Tourists could admire the beauty of the mountains and forests, and the houses reflecting the rich culture of the Hmong people. Cat Cat Village is quite large, and there are two paths leading back, so tourists might easily lose their way if they're not paying attention.
