On the evening of April 3, social media again appeared posts about candidates being late for the first round of the competency assessment test, organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University on March 30.
Sharing with reporters, candidate VBN (HCMC) said he was about 20 minutes late for the exam and was not given extra time.
Candidates take the competency assessment test in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of March 30.
Specifically, N. took the exam in room P.069, the exam site of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. N. was the candidate who received the exam papers near the end. After 15 minutes of distributing the exam papers, the invigilator had not finished distributing them. About 5 minutes after the bell rang to announce the start of the exam, N. received the exam papers.
"I had only finished about 10 questions when the teacher discovered that I had mistaken the test code so they swapped my test code with another student's. The test code on my multiple choice test sheet was also changed" - N. said with a sigh.
After the exam, because he was so disappointed and scared, N. did not report the incident to the examination board and went home. A few days later, when he had calmed down, N. contacted the hotline of the National University but the line was busy.
Candidates reported being late for the first round of the competency assessment test on the evening of April 3.
Another candidate, NLBK (HCMC), also taking the exam in room P.069, confirmed that there was a situation where the invigilator delayed the exam time of the candidates.
"The invigilator distributed the test papers to the first 2-3 candidates and then realized he had given them out by mistake, so he had to collect the papers and redistribute them. By the time I received them, I was almost 5 minutes late. I had planned to register for the second round of the exam, so when the incident happened, I did not immediately report it to the examination board," K. said.
Both candidates said that the incident originated from the exam supervisor's confusion when distributing the exam questions, confusing the exam codes with each other.
In a quick exchange with reporters on the evening of April 3, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assurance - Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that he had received the information and was verifying the incident.
"We have not received any information from this candidate via hotline or email. The exam hotline and email are always open" – Dr. Chinh added.
Previously, after the competency assessment exam, many posts appeared on social networks claiming that the exam supervisor at An Giang University (An Giang province) was late, causing candidates to lose nearly 20 minutes on the exam. The competency assessment exam council worked with the An Giang University exam site and determined that 4 candidates were affected.
The examination council in An Giang province directly apologized to 4 candidates and did not collect the exam fee (VND 300,000) if they took the second round of the competency assessment exam.
