On March 30, the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Geophysics announced that it was monitoring an earthquake occurring in the mountainous region of Kon Tum with a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale.
According to information from the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center, the earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale and a level 0 natural disaster risk, occurred in the Kon Plông district, Kon Tum province.

Accordingly, the earthquake occurred at 4:38:58 PM ( Hanoi time) today at coordinates (14.955 degrees North latitude, 108.178 degrees East longitude), with a focal depth of approximately 8.2 km.
The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Geophysics is continuing to monitor this earthquake.
According to the Institute of Geophysics, the Kon Plông district in Kon Tum province has recently experienced a series of earthquakes of varying intensity, raising concerns about the safety of residents and infrastructure in the area.
In particular, on July 28, 2024, the Kon Plông district of Kon Tum province experienced 13 consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 5.0 on the Richter scale.
The earthquakes in Kon Plông are considered by scientists at the Institute to be "triggered earthquakes," caused by the water impoundment process of the hydroelectric reservoir impacting the underlying fault system. This phenomenon has occurred in several areas with large hydroelectric power plants.
These earthquakes not only caused localized tremors but could also affect neighboring provinces. Many residents felt the shaking, especially during earthquakes with a magnitude above 4.0. Although no serious damage to people or property has been reported, the repeated tremors have caused concern among residents and necessitate prompt response measures.
