According to a representative of Hanoi Metro, the area where the water leak occurred was on the 2nd floor of Yen Nghia station on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong train line at noon on May 23. Rainwater flowed onto the train that was stopped there and splashed onto the station floor.
The cause of this is due to the damaged roof of Yen Nghia station, blown off as a result of storm Yagi that occurred in September 2024.

Explaining the delay in repairing damaged items after Typhoon Yagi, a representative of Hanoi Metro said that the unit has inspected, counted, developed plans and estimates for items that need to be repaired, and developed periodic maintenance and emergency repair plans to submit to competent authorities for approval.
However, the delay in repairing and overcoming infrastructure damage caused by natural disasters, leading to negative impacts on passengers and train operations, is due to the unit not actively coordinating with related units and reporting to competent authorities for timely and effective remedial measures.

According to the representative of Hanoi Metro, to promptly handle the above incident, the unit has agreed with relevant agencies to immediately carry out urgent repairs on a number of items, such as: replacing the roof panels of Yen Nghia station, the roofs of the damaged stairs at the stations, and the broken glass panels of the station walls... on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong railway line.
For projects requiring large funding sources and approval from competent authorities, Hanoi Metro is actively coordinating with management agencies to implement them as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, regarding the sudden train stoppage at 2:30 p.m. on May 23 on the Nhon - Hanoi station line (elevated section Nhon - Cau Giay), Hanoi Metro said that this was an electrical problem, so authorities were forced to cut off power from Le Duc Tho station to Cau Giay station to handle the situation.
At 3:22 p.m. the same day, the power failure was resolved and train operations on the route returned to normal.
This incident is handled according to procedure and is included in the 57 incident handling scenarios.
