For the first time, Can Tho City is organizing the Spring Book Park.

For the first time during the Lunar New Year of the Horse (2026), Can Tho City will organize a Spring Book Park with many beneficial and interesting activities. The Spring Book Park will be an open cultural space, helping residents and tourists read books and enjoy the spring festivities. In an interview with reporters from Can Tho Newspaper and Radio & Television, Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Director of the Can Tho City Library, added:

The Spring Book Fair of the Year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ) is scheduled to take place over 5 days, from February 5th to 9th, 2026 (corresponding to the 18th to 22nd day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake - Ất Tỵ), at Tao Đàn Park, Ninh Kiều Ward. This is the first time this event has been organized, aiming to serve the reading needs and create a beneficial recreational space for residents and tourists during the Tet holiday.

This year's Spring Book Park will feature approximately 10 stalls, including one large stall from the City Library showcasing books, newspapers, and documents on the economy , culture, society, and tourism of Can Tho City. The remaining nine stalls will be run by various organizations and individuals to exhibit and sell books, stationery, souvenirs, and Tet (Lunar New Year) decorations.

According to him, what are the special highlights of this year's Spring Book Park?

- We hope that visitors to the Spring Book Park will not only read books but also experience the Tet atmosphere and cultural space, especially the reading culture. Therefore, the Organizing Committee has paid special attention to the park's design, with books as the main theme. The park space is designed to be open, airy, harmonious with nature, and easily accessible from all angles. The Spring Book Park of the Year of the Horse is a harmonious combination of a book space with a cultural and artistic space imbued with the spirit of spring.

In terms of activities, besides displaying books and newspapers, the Spring Book Park also features many attractive interactive programs. Highlights include "Author-Work" exchange programs, where readers can meet authors and book collectors directly to hear about the creative process, the value of their works, and the stories behind the pages. Another attractive activity is the introduction of rare and antique book collections from private collectors in Can Tho City. Furthermore, the Book Park offers various art exchange activities, quizzes, and interactive events with visitors, creating a vibrant and enjoyable spring atmosphere. This approach helps the Spring Book Park transcend the boundaries of a typical book fair, becoming a true "cultural experience space."

Is the Spring Book Park intended to become an annual event during Tet (Lunar New Year) in Can Tho City, sir?

- This is the long-term goal that the Organizing Committee is aiming for. The Spring Book Park is intended to be an annual event in the "Celebrating the Party - Celebrating Spring" series of activities in Can Tho City, with an increasingly larger scale. We hope to build the Spring Book Park into another new "cultural brand" of Can Tho, similar to festivals such as the Southern Traditional Cake Festival, the Ninh Kieu Lantern Festival… Along with the Can Tho City Book Fair, the Spring Book Park will contribute to positioning Can Tho City not only as a "city of rivers and waterways" but also as a "city of knowledge".

In the context of Can Tho City asserting its role as the center of the Mekong Delta region, valuing reading culture is not only significant in terms of spiritual development but also serves as a foundation for intellectual growth, creativity, and innovation. Therefore, the Spring Book Park, in addition to being a Tet (Lunar New Year) event, is also a new step in the journey of creating the image of Can Tho as a dynamic city with profound cultural depth.
