Thomas Haldenwang, president of Germany's Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, has warned of a new wave of anti-Semitism emerging in the country.
Mr. Haldenwang stated that, over the years, the number of violent crimes and anti-Semitic crimes in Germany has consistently been high.
However, the current wave of anti-Semitism is even greater. Since October 7th alone, there have been approximately 1,800 acts of violence against Jews in Germany, which is a very large number.
Mr. Haldenwang believes that Germany will have to face this new wave of anti-Semitism for a long time. The ongoing war in the Gaza Strip could lead to further radicalization in Germany. According to this official, the police and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution are actively conducting extensive investigations to prevent plots and criminal activities by extremists, protecting the safety of German citizens in general and Jewish people in particular.
