Leaving “safety” to seek long-term development space

Ms. Ha Thy (41 years old) is one of the business owners who dare to step out of her comfort zone. Having been a teacher for many years, she decided to change direction after the pandemic and open a small flower shop. Five years of working in the flower industry has helped her have a stable customer base, but also made her realize the limitations of space and development opportunities when the model is located in a narrow inner-city area.

In April 2024, she decided to move everything to An Cuu City, running a coffee shop on the first floor and moving the flower shop upstairs under the Hathy Le brand. “At first, I was worried about losing customers, but change is necessary if you want to go further,” she shared.

According to her, the biggest advantage of An Cuu City is its infrastructure and wide frontage. This helps the shop easily recognize the brand, and there is comfortable parking - something that the inner city area could not provide before. "Customers coming here do not have to worry about parking. I also have space to display, bringing the best experience to customers," she said. Thanks to this advantage, Hathy Le was chosen by VinFast as the location to organize periodic test drives.

In recent years, especially during countdown, the number of people flocking to An Cuu City has increased. This shows her that this area is developing in the right direction. She said that what makes her most secure is the future planning vision. According to the orientation, this area will become a “European street” with synchronous architecture and more systematic commercial space. “Anyone who has been in business for a long time wants to have a place to confidently invest long-term. This place gives me that feeling,” she shared.

Ms. Ha Thy's journey is not just a change of location, but a choice towards sustainability, leaving her comfort zone to start a new phase, with the belief that she is standing in the right place - at the right time.

Young people choose to start from new areas

Mr. Minh Nhat (25 years old) started his business earlier than his peers. Instead of choosing an office job, he decided to start a business with a homestay model in An Cuu City, right next to the An Cuu Galleria shophouse row - where he believes there is a demand for high-quality accommodation from both business travelers and tourists .

Not coming from the tourism and service industry, he faced many difficulties when he first started. From room arrangement, customer service to operating the accommodation model, he had to learn everything from scratch. He shared: “Luckily, the shophouses at An Cuu Galleria were handed over with the raw part and the exterior finished, with white space to freely design in his own style.” He completed each room himself, aiming for a modern and cozy look. On the first floor, he added a small spa service, creating two parallel models to optimize business efficiency.

Explaining why he chose to start with JOIE HOMESTAY, he shared: “For me, opening a homestay is not a risky step, but an opportunity to prove my ability and build something that bears my own mark.”

JOIE – which means “joy” in French – is the feeling he wants guests to feel when they step into a room away from home.

He added: “In Hue , to run a successful accommodation service, location is the most important factor. Here, security is good, close to many amenities, especially opposite AEON Mall Hue, so it can exploit the number of tourists.” Thanks to that advantage, JOIE Homestay has gradually become a familiar stop for many groups of guests from far away, regularly welcoming guests every day, especially on weekends when it is almost full.

Trends of commercial migration in new urban areas

Stories like those of Ms. Ha Thy or Mr. Minh Nhat reflect a general trend: many Hue business owners are looking for new areas to optimize space and exploitation. According to records, food, beauty, accommodation, retail services, etc. in An Cuu City have been increasing in the past 2 years, contributing to creating a new commercial appearance for the South of Huong River area.

With complete infrastructure and planning to become a new commercial and service center of the city, An Cuu City is assessed to have great room for development in the near future. Many business owners consider this a suitable place to expand, start or restructure the model in a more professional direction.
