The highest price in the region was recorded in Thai Nguyen when it increased to 59,000 VND/kg. Localities such as Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh and Phu Tho simultaneously adjusted the price by 2,000 VND/kg, trading at 59,000 VND/kg. Hanoi alone also increased the price, currently reaching 58,000 VND/kg.

The two provinces of Tuyen Quang and Hung Yen increased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg, raising the price to 58,000 VND/kg, while Cao Bang also added 1,000 VND/kg, currently at 57,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands

The Central Highlands region continued to be bustling with a strong increase of up to 4,000 VND/kg in many localities, bringing the price to fluctuate between 55,000 - 58,000 VND/kg. Quang Tri and Hue increased by 4,000 VND/kg, pushing the transaction price to 55,000 VND/kg.

Da Nang and Quang Ngai provinces increased by 3,000 VND/kg, reaching 56,000 VND/kg. Ha Tinh also increased similarly, currently trading at 57,000 VND/kg.

Thanh Hoa and Nghe An both increased by 2,000 VND/kg, bringing the purchase price to 58,000 VND/kg. In the Central Highlands, Lam Dong recorded 57,000 VND/kg, Gia Lai reached 55,000 VND/kg, while Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa increased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg, to 56,000 VND/kg.

Southern pig price

The Southern market still maintained its upward trend in most provinces and cities. Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City all increased by VND1,000/kg, currently at VND57,000/kg.

The two localities of Ca Mau and Can Tho both increased to 55,000 VND/kg, while Dong Thap reached 56,000 VND/kg and An Giang increased to 54,000 VND/kg. Only Vinh Long remained at 55,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the South is currently fluctuating from 54,000 - 57,000 VND/kg, reflecting a continuing upward trend.

According to some traders, the purchasing demand of slaughterhouses is increasing to stock up on goods for the end of the year, making the Northern market more vibrant than other regions.

Since the beginning of December, the price of live pigs in the North has continuously increased every day, maintained at a high level and shows no signs of cooling down.

In areas recently affected by floods, many livestock and barn owners suffered heavy losses, leading to a localized reduction in supply. This caused pork prices in the South Central and Central Highlands to fluctuate sharply.

Some processing enterprises predict that the demand for pork at the end of the year will continue to increase, especially in the month before Tet, so prices in this area may continue to rise.

In the context of rising prices, localities are strengthening disease control work. According to Agriculture & Environment Newspaper, Nghe An is one of the localities with high risk due to large herds and small-scale farming accounting for a large proportion.

Mr. Tran Vo Ba - Deputy Head of Nghe An Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department - said that the province currently has nearly 1 million pigs and more than 38 million poultry. Although the livestock industry has achieved many important targets in 2024 and 2025, the disease situation remains complicated.

In 2025, many dangerous epidemics such as foot-and-mouth disease, avian influenza and lumpy skin disease will continue to appear in communes and wards. In particular, African swine fever has not been completely controlled, affecting herd restoration plans in some areas.

In response, the province has issued a series of urgent dispatches, mobilized veterinary forces to strengthen surveillance, handle outbreaks, organized inspection teams and required people to fully vaccinate, while promoting biosafety. However, unstable weather and increased demand for livestock transportation at the end of the year make the risk of a re-outbreak still worrying.

Authorities recommend that farmers and local authorities closely monitor and limit the transportation of pigs of unknown origin, and regularly disinfect barns to ensure a stable food supply for the year-end market and the 2026 Lunar New Year.
