Israel's technology sector is experiencing its biggest wave of layoffs since 2022, as businesses restructure en masse to adapt to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution.
In just the past month, around 1,800 employees have lost their jobs at technology companies in and outside Israel – a number that is expected to rise as not all layoffs have been announced.
Many long-established companies like Teads and Mobileye are leading the trend, cutting 10% and 4% of their workforce, respectively.
Other large companies such as Fiverr, Varonis, Payoneer, Cellebrite, along with tech unicorns Lusha, Axonis, and Lightricks, also announced hundreds of layoffs. The R&D centers of international corporations like Cisco, HP, Applied Materials, and Sony in Israel also underwent downsizing.
According to HR experts, Artificial Intelligence is becoming a major driving force behind businesses cutting positions considered "marginal" – such as analytics, testing, administration, and documentation – jobs that Artificial Intelligence can handle more effectively.
Experts believe this wave of layoffs is not merely cyclical, but reflects a profound structural shift in Israel's technology sector's workforce in response to the increasing pace of automation and the application of Artificial Intelligence.
