Coach Thanh Tan said the team had about two months of training. During the first month, they focused on improving their physical fitness, then refined their tactics and teamwork skills. This helped the players maintain good physical condition throughout the tournament. This group of players has a foundation from grades 8-9, with outstanding players such as Kim Ngan, Phuong Thuy, Ha Vi, Kim Thi, and Bich Loan.
To achieve this success, in addition to mobilizing teachers from the National Defense Education Department to participate in training, Thuan Hung High School also took advantage of social resources to support the players with uniforms, accommodation, and transportation.
Mr. Tang Van Chin, Principal of Thuan Hung High School, said that the team's initial goal was to reach the semi-finals. However, thanks to serious training and the unity of teachers, parents, and students, the team achieved results far exceeding expectations. Mr. Chin said: "Most of the players are 10th-grade students, promising to continue to be the core force for the school's girls' football movement in the coming years."
Meanwhile, although they couldn't reach the top spot, Binh Thuy High School's team left a strong impression. The tournament took place in Binh Thuy ward, providing the team with favorable conditions for both training and competition. On their journey to the final, Binh Thuy High School's team overcame tense matches, including two victories in penalty shootouts in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. According to Coach Duong Van Can of Binh Thuy High School, reaching the final was a well-deserved reward for the team's serious preparation.
Although they couldn't advance further in the tournament, the efforts of the schools, especially those located far away, further highlighted the significance of the competition. The Thạnh Tân High School girls' team, with only 7 players participating in the girls' high school football tournament for the first time, reached the quarterfinals. Despite traveling a considerable distance to the center of Can Tho City and facing a continuous, high-intensity schedule against teams with 10-12 players, the Thạnh Tân High School players persevered and fought until the very last minute of the match.
Coach Nguyen Ngoc Anh Thu of Thanh Tan High School's team shared: "Participating in the tournament is a great joy for the school and the students. This year's achievement will be a motivation for the school to continue developing women's football in the future."
It can be said that this year's high school girls' football tournament reflects the positive transformation of the girls' school football movement in Can Tho City. Many schools have proactively formed teams, created training facilities, and supported students both professionally and financially. From teams in the city center to schools in remote areas, all have brought a passionate competitive spirit, contributing to creating a meaningful playground for school sports in the city.
