Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong: The mass sports movement has developed strongly in both quantity and quality. Every year, the province organizes about 25 provincial-level competitions, more than 640 grassroots-level competitions, and over 100 socialized competitions. The percentage of people who regularly practice sports reaches about 35%, and the percentage of sports-oriented families reaches 26%.
However, difficulties remain, such as inadequate facilities, limited funding, and local staff holding multiple positions; meanwhile, work pressure prevents some people from maintaining regular exercise routines.
In the coming period, the sector will promote socialization, mobilize investment resources; develop sports clubs; effectively utilize basic infrastructure; diversify training types and strengthen propaganda to increase the participation rate of the people.
Marathons and other amateur sporting events are attracting more and more participants.
- What specific commitments and actions has the sector taken to ensure the Resolution is implemented effectively in the near future, sir?
Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong: The sector is committed to implementing comprehensive solutions, focusing on improving the quality of grassroots sports and physical training movements; regularly maintaining activities such as the Olympic Run Day, the National Sports Congress, marathons, and other grassroots competitions.
At the same time, we will strengthen coordination with the education and health sectors; mobilize social resources; and create favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to participate in sports development. We strive to achieve a rate of 37.5% of people regularly participating in sports and 28.5% of families involved in sports by 2030.
- Sir, could you please tell us what the industry leaders' expectations are for the mass sports movement in the coming period?
Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong: We expect the mass sports movement to develop extensively and sustainably, aiming towards the goal of "a strong people and a prosperous nation." We strive for every citizen to form the habit of exercising at least 4 times a week; improving physical fitness and stature, especially improving the height of young people.
In addition, we will continue to expand the infrastructure and organize more competitions from the provincial to the grassroots level, thereby improving the quality of life and contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.
Thank you, sir!
Danh Nguyen
