Women's Union members of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police encourage Tran Phuong Linh. |
Her father passed away and her mother left when Linh was young. She currently lives alone in a house built with support from the Farmers' Association of Thai Nguyen City (old) and other departments and branches in 2021. Every day, she is cared for and raised by her paternal aunts and uncles.
Knowing her difficult circumstances, the Women's Union of the Construction Force I and II - Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, accepted Linh as their godchild; supported her care and upbringing during her studies and activities.
Nearly 3 years since accepting Linh as her "goddaughter", with a sense of responsibility, compassion and love, the Women's Union of the force building sector has always cared for, asked about and encouraged her to overcome difficulties, try hard in studying and life; supported her with a total amount of nearly 18 million VND.
With her strong will and the support of her “Godmothers”, over the past 3 years, she has always achieved the title of excellent student. In particular, in the 2025 High School Entrance Exam, she passed with a very high total score of 25.5 points. She is the pride and also the proof of the love spread from the “Godmother” program launched by the Women's Association of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police.
In the house, which felt warmer than usual because the mothers came to visit, Linh was moved: I feel very lucky because my mothers often share, encourage me, and help me be confident in life. That is a great motivation for me to overcome my circumstances and study better.
The “Godmother” program was launched by the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police Women’s Association in 2022, with the desire to bring love to orphans due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other causes. It focuses on propaganda, mobilization, cadres and women’s association members to actively respond and receive sponsorship, support, care and nurturing of orphans in especially difficult circumstances, creating conditions for them to develop comprehensively.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, Head of the Women's Committee, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, said: In order for the "Godmother" program to spread widely, the Provincial Police Women's Union has proactively disseminated, developed specific plans, and implemented them creatively and flexibly throughout the Union; directed grassroots unions to pay in-depth attention, support, and accompany the children.
From 2022 to present, the Provincial Police Women's Association has received support to care for and raise 20 children in especially difficult circumstances. The "Godmother" program not only provides timely material support to orphans who lack the love of their parents, but also helps improve their knowledge, life skills and encouragement to help them move towards a bright future.
