In particular, the Provincial Journalists Association has applied information technology to various aspects of its operations, implemented innovative initiatives, and achieved high efficiency in its activities and in providing journalistic information and professional skills to journalists and the community. Journalist Doan Hong Phuc, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial Journalists Association, stated that in 2021, the Association implemented the project "Applying the Zalo social network to exchange information throughout the Provincial Journalists Association system and connect with media agencies in the province." In 2022, the project focused on "Building and operating a digital transformation website and social media accounts to provide information and professional skills to members, journalists, and the community." In 2023, the project "Applying multiple digital technology platforms in cyberspace to serve management and information provision for members… contributing to promoting the digital transformation policy in the locality" was implemented… All of this was carried out to improve efficiency in management and operation, as well as to support members and journalists quickly and promptly.

“This is a serious activity that needs to be carried out systematically and scientifically. Therefore, the Standing Committee of the Kien Giang Provincial Journalists Association has issued regulations on the application of information technology to effectively manage and operate through social media, practically serving the tasks of the year and contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 7th Congress of the Kien Giang Provincial Journalists Association. The Association has established 6 internal Zalo groups to facilitate the exchange of information on association activities, such as the Executive Committee group, the Secretariat group, the Inspection Committee group, and the Journalists Association group with radio stations in districts and cities. Thanks to this, all directives and operational information are unified and timely. In addition, at the grassroots level, each branch or club has established its own Zalo group to exchange information within the branch with 12 other groups,” said Mr. Doan Hong Phuc.

Since 2021, Zalo groups have proven effective, practically serving the regular work requirements of the Standing Committee of the Association. They maintain regular and continuous communication between the Standing Committee and affiliated branches and the Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Centers of districts and cities, ensuring complete and accurate information exchange. Urgent tasks are also handled quickly and efficiently. Discussions and exchanges are conducted with prompt feedback from the leaders of the affiliated units. In 2021 alone, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Journalists Association and 18 Zalo groups of affiliated units shared 410 pieces of information, including directives, operational documents, meeting invitations, and updates on association activities, providing timely support with documents and materials to members, journalists, and reporters, even during the social distancing period to prevent and control the epidemic.

In addition, the Provincial Journalists Association also organizes training courses on writing articles, providing guidance and experience-sharing sessions for members and reporters on how to identify fake news, false information, harmful information, reactionary and hostile information, and skills in verifying sources and processing information… Emphasis is placed on how to post and write articles on social media to refute false and hostile viewpoints that are widely disseminated, and the abundance of fake news on social media.

Journalist Doan Hong Phuc - Standing Vice Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial Journalists Association also stated: “Continuing to build on the results of the previous year, in 2023 we continued to register and successfully implement the project “Building and operating a digital transformation website, Zalo Official Account, and social media accounts to provide information and professional services to members, journalists, and the community. The Provincial Journalists Association recognizes that Zalo Official Account is not only a technology platform providing solutions to support localities in the process of building e-government, but this platform is also an information channel closely linked to the social life activities of the people. Therefore, I proposed establishing this information page to serve the needs of improving the political, professional, and technical skills of members, journalists, reporters, and the entire community in cyberspace.”

It is known that the online news portal on the national digital transformation platform was granted an operating license in February 2022 under the official name "Kien Giang Journalists," with the first information update on March 3, 2022. The main content of this portal regularly reports on activities within the Vietnam Journalists Association system, the Provincial Journalists Association, information on media and journalism activities, journalistic skills, etc. To attract attention and promote wider communication, the Provincial Journalists Association also established a Facebook account and utilized the platform with the largest user base to share information from the Vietnam Journalists Association's Electronic Information Portal, the Party and State's online newspapers, and local news sites, in order to promptly provide information to the community and journalists.

Journalist Doan Hong Phuc stated that, in order to effectively utilize digital technology platforms to serve the political tasks of agencies and units, the Provincial Journalists Association is seeking approval from the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to establish an electronic information portal to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of leadership, direction, and operational management. Furthermore, the transmission of information and operational documents from the permanent office to association branches, members, journalists, and reporters will utilize QR codes. Users can easily access information and documents quickly and promptly, anytime, anywhere, significantly saving paper and ink compared to the past. The press publications and special editions of the Provincial Journalists Association, as well as publications participating in the Spring Press Festival, will all be provided with QR codes for readers to view conveniently and easily online.

Every year, the Provincial Journalists Association will register one to two initiatives, models, and applications for online activities. Initially, this will involve designing infographics about President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, providing materials for members, reporters, and journalists to learn from President Ho Chi Minh and practice professional journalism. The Provincial Journalists Association strives to have 90% of documents, forms, and especially the organization of journalism awards established using QR codes by 2025, ” journalist Doan Hong Phuc further shared.
