Comprehensive, realistic challenges

The 3rd Competition for Squadron Commanders, Squadron Political Commissars ; Battalion Commanders, Battalion Political Commissars of Combined Arms, Tanks and Armored Vehicles of the Navy has a new highlight: The Navy has combined two competitions into one with a larger scale and more comprehensive content. The competitions cover all three aspects of staff work, politics, logistics and engineering; from building Party Committee resolutions, reporting combat plans, combat staff, to shooting, swimming, and command.

The cognitive test has been innovated - 100% of candidates take the multiple choice test on computers.

Colonel Nguyen Quang Hung, Head of the Military Training Department - School, Navy General Staff, member of the Organizing Committee, Jury, representative of the standing agency of the contest, said: The exam is designed to be open, with many situational questions close to reality. Thereby, not only testing the knowledge learned but also requiring candidates to think creatively, handle problems flexibly, in the spirit that grassroots cadres must be both good at theory and solid in practice.

In fact, many combat plans are highly appreciated for their scientific and feasible nature; many Party Committee resolutions have a tight structure, concise content, and convincing answers to questions. The shooting, swimming, and command competitions also left their mark, affirming the comprehensiveness in the training of grassroots cadres.

Lessons from candidates: Self-reflection, self-training, self-improvement

For each contestant, the contest is a valuable opportunity to reflect on oneself. Lieutenant Colonel Ho Minh Tuan, Captain of Squadron 315 (Brigade 172, Region 3) shared: "This contest has given us many useful lessons, the content is very close to reality. After returning to the unit, I will apply the experiences and knowledge learned to lead and command the unit more effectively."

Candidates practice 200m breaststroke.
Candidates practice shooting K54 guns.

Major Trinh The Hai, Battalion Commander of Battalion 863, Brigade 101, Naval Region 4, expressed: "The competition to develop a combat plan and report to the Party Committee set very high requirements, forcing the commander to calculate in detail, scientifically, and closely to reality. Through each competition, I learned many valuable experiences so that when I returned to the unit, I could organize training and be better prepared for combat."

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ta Ngoc Manh, Political Commissar of Squadron 135, Brigade 170, Naval Region 1, the most memorable point was the competition on combat mission leadership resolutions. There, the Political Commissar and Squadron Commander had to coordinate well, unify command and orient the troops' ideology. He clearly saw that fighting strength comes not only from weapons and equipment but also from will, mettle and solidarity.

Spread the spirit of "training the staff and training the army"

Importantly, as Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee and Commander of the Navy, emphasized, after the contest, grassroots cadres must apply their knowledge and experience to practice; continue to train and improve their qualifications in all aspects; thoroughly grasp the motto "superiors train subordinates", "train each weak point". The contest does not stop at being an intellectual playground, but is also a source of motivation for each cadre to pass on the flame of determination to the unit, turning it into concrete actions in training, management, and combat readiness.

According to the judges, it was by putting contestants in stressful and complex situations that the competition helped to forge leadership style, decisiveness and responsibility - indispensable qualities in key leaders.

Navy leaders awarded prizes to high-achieving contestants at the competition.

After 5 days of intense but exciting competition, 100% of the contestants completed all the exams, many of them achieved excellent results. The success of the contest was not only in the test results, but also in spreading the spirit of training, the will to improve, and responsibility for the assigned tasks.

From the contest, the spirit of "training cadres and training soldiers" is being fueled and widely spread throughout the Navy. This is a sustainable value, contributing to building a team of "both red and professional" Navy grassroots cadres, meeting the requirements of building the Navy to move straight towards modernity, firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
