“The formation of human morality, lifestyle, and way of life is through the environment of the family, social groups, schools, mass media systems... If children are born listening to lullabies and folk songs witheducational values, they will gradually absorb and follow them for the rest of their lives. Behavior in the family and social groups plays a very important role in the development of a person. Behaviors that follow a set of rules and standards create behavioral patterns. At the same time, through behavioral patterns, the ability to manage members and manage society will be enhanced,” Ms. Trang shared.

With this important meaning, in recent times, many schools in the city have regularly included folk culture and arts in school activities. Ms. Nguyen Quoc Thu Tram, Principal of Ngoc Lan Kindergarten, said that the school always pays attention to folk arts and culinary activities so that children can both learn and play. For example, teachers let children experience swimming in the Bay Mau coconut forest while listening to Quang Nam folk songs. In music education activities, teachers sing folk songs to children and listen to the flute playing the melody of that song.

“Folk activities are always integrated into learning activities by school teachers in a reasonable and flexible way, not only helping to enrich the learning content, but also helping children become more interested, remember the learning content deeply and thoroughly. Besides, it also enriches the national cultural identity in the children's souls, helping them grow up every day in joy and health but still nurturing the cultural beauty of the region where they live,” Ms. Tram emphasized.

Ms. Huynh Thi Thu Nguyet, Principal of Le Dinh Chinh Primary School, said that the school regularly encourages students to include folk genres in flag-raising performances and performances to celebrate the Party and celebrate Spring. On average, 1 to 2 classes perform folk art performances each week.

“By encouraging the inclusion of folk art performances, in addition to preserving the national cultural identity, the school also hopes that all students will look back to their roots and understand more about the unique values ​​in traditional national culture. This is also one of the criteria in educating students’ abilities and qualities according to the 2018 General Education Program,” Ms. Nguyet shared.

Bringing folk cultural activities into tourism exploitation

Each festival is not only an occasion for entertainment, but also a way for local people to express cultural values, honor the history and long-standing traditions of their clans. Currently, the city still preserves and conserves many communal houses, temples, and shrines; this is where many unique local folk cultural festivals take place. These factors create a special place to build and develop new tourism products bearing the mark of folk culture.

A typical example is the Buu Dan Thanh Mau De Tam Thoai Cung festival at Tam Giang Thanh Dien in Cam Le district. This year's festival lasts from March 19 to 21, including traditional rituals and many festival activities. In addition to the main ceremony, the festival also organizes camping, a palanquin procession on land, and a competition to decorate tents, write calligraphy, perform mass art, and take beautiful photos.

In addition, the festival also organizes cultural and sports activities such as painting, tug of war, sack race, blindfolded duck catching, traditional boat racing on Cam Le River. Mr. Ngo Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of Cam Le District People's Committee, said that the festival is one of the annual cultural and religious events held in the locality. Through the festival, the locality wishes to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, educate patriotism, and solidarity in building and protecting the homeland.

This year, Cam Le district organized the Khue Trung village festival and the death anniversary of the ancestors, lasting from April 11 to 13 with many traditional rituals such as: the reward ceremony at the Tien Hien church, the offering ceremony at the Ba temple, the Thanh Hoang worship ceremony, the death anniversary of the Tien Hien... In the festival, there were art performances, camping and the competition of cooking banh chung, decorating tents, sack jumping, stick pushing, blindfolded duck catching, earth pounding, chess, solidarity rope jumping, speed wheel, betel making, flower arrangement, fruit display, banh chung wrapping, bai choi performance...

Many village festivals in the city still preserve folk cultural activities in the main festivals such as Thac Gian village festival, Tuy Loan village festival, Thanh Khe and Son Tra fishing festivals... Thanks to that, village festivals have become typical and unique cultural activities of the villagers, an indispensable cultural and spiritual activity of the locality.
