Ms. Colau Thi Nhua was born and raised in Tr'hy commune (Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province), in a poor family. As a single mother with an unstable job, for many years she has lived in a makeshift house with a rotten corrugated iron roof, which leaks everywhere during the rainy season. Her life is difficult, she hopes to have a solid house to protect her from the sun and rain. In that situation, the City Women's Union supported 60 million VND; together with the help of local people, associations and organizations, she was able to build a new solid house. Similarly, Ms. Poloong Thi Xeu is a poor household in Aring village, Axan commune (Tay Giang district) raising three young children. Implementing the program "Accompanying women in the border areas", the City Women's Union coordinated with the Border Guard to support 4 difficult border communes including: Huong Lam and Huong Vinh communes (Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province); AXan and Tr'Hy communes (Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province). Over the past 5 years, the city's Women's Union at all levels coordinated with units, philanthropists, and businesses to organize nearly 70 delegations to visit and support funding for building new and repairing charity houses, providing livelihoods, public works, and gifts to people, children, and officers and soldiers of the Border Guard Stations in 4 border communes with a total cost of more than 6.5 billion VND. Of which, 31 charity houses were supported, 517 livelihoods were awarded, more than 1,000 scholarships, 74 bicycles, nearly 2,500 uniforms, warm clothes, school supplies, books for students, and more than 7,000 gifts for people. Two communes in Tay Giang district (Quang Nam) received the most support with a total cost of more than 3.75 billion VND; two communes in Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh) received more than 1 billion VND; in addition, the association also supported mountainous border provinces such as Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, and Nghe An with more than 1.58 billion VND.
According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huong, President of the City Women's Union, the program "Accompanying women in the border areas" has created a widespread influence, attracting the active participation of cadres, women's union members and the companionship of the whole society. Through the program, the union at all levels has mobilized many resources to support women and children in the border areas with practical activities in health, education, livelihood development, contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic minorities. The program contributes to strengthening the relationship between Da Nang and border communes, remote areas, demonstrating the core role of the union in taking care of the military's rear, protecting sovereignty early, from afar, with the strength of the people. In particular, the companionship with the two communes of Huong Vinh and Huong Lam (Ha Tinh province) in recent years has contributed to helping the locality achieve new rural standards, becoming a driving force for the City Women's Union to continue spreading love to the border areas with many difficulties.
