Professional and emotional
Although it is a grassroots competition, many performances at the Gia Lai Open Journalist Singing Contest 2025 are very well-prepared in terms of vocals, performance techniques and stage design. Some performances demonstrate quite good vocal techniques, especially when choosing songs that require delicate handling of pitch and emotion such as Mien xa tham, Canh chim bao tin vui, Nghe bao toi yeu...

Many performances have elaborate dance choreography, showing serious and meticulous investment in both image and sound, such as I love my country, folk song Kuk krăng bòk tôk bòe mai (Cultural-Information and Sports Center of Ia Grai district), creating strong stage effects.
The performance Vinh quang To quoc ta (Gia Lai Newspaper) not only had accompanying dances but also surprised with its solid chorus arrangement - not easy for non-professionals. BIDV Gia Lai also left its mark with Hat vang ly tuong tuoi tre Viet Nam - a performance that was magnificently staged with a large number of actors. The smooth coordination between singing, dancing and stage images showed the serious investment of the unit.

A big plus point of the contest is the diversity in the selection of songs, from revolutionary music, lyrical music, folk songs to new compositions. Many touching performances such as Continuing the story of peace - a familiar song performed by singer Nguyen Khoi (BIDV Nam Gia Lai) touched the listeners' emotions by evoking deep gratitude for history.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Long - Director of Dam San Music and Dance Theater, Head of the Jury of the contest, commented: "I am really impressed with the professional quality of many performances in the contest. Not only stopping at the movement, many units have shown very careful and creative investment. The contest is not only an opportunity for journalists to show their talents, but also a place to spread the love of art and the spirit of dedication to the community".

The narrative tone of journalism
Held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), the contest is not simply a cultural playground, but also a place for journalists to express their artistic souls, their belief in life and their spirit of dedication through music.

In particular, compositions such as Gialaitv composed by journalist Dang Huy Cuong and Manh Ha (Provincial Radio and Television Station) or the song I Love Journalism - a composition by musician An Hieu performed by singer Cao Nguyen (Gia Lai Newspaper) - have deeply portrayed the spirit of journalists in the new era.
Singer Cao Nguyen shared: "When singing this song, I feel like I'm telling the story of myself and many colleagues: the days when I stayed at the newsroom until late at night to make special publications, hoping that the newspaper would reach readers with attractive content and form; or there were colleagues who faced danger to deliver a hot news story in time to serve readers... Singing this song, I feel like I'm reliving a very difficult but also proud part of my life as a journalist."

Ms. Vo Thi Nhu Quynh - Gia Lai Radio and Television Station shared: "I joined the contest with both excitement and pride. Through the contest, we hope to spread love for our homeland, country and especially love for our profession. Journalists and television workers, in addition to their daily work and news, always keep within themselves the spirit of culture and art. I hope the program will help convey that beauty to the audience."
Many contestants from the units also had a surprising and interesting feeling about the performance of the journalists. Ms. Ho Thi Vien - a singer from An Khe Sugar Factory expressed: "I was very surprised and excited to see the journalists not only write well but also sing well, dance beautifully, and be very professional on stage. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, I hope that journalists will continue to keep the passion for their profession, continue to write beautiful stories, good articles that are helpful to life."

Coming from a unit that has had many cultural and sports exchanges with the press over the years, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien - BIDV Nam Gia Lai shared: "The journalists are not only good at their profession but also very young and dedicated on stage. I hope they will always maintain that energy to continue spreading positive information to the community."

Ms. Duong Thi Loan - Saigon - Gia Lai International Eye Hospital shared: "Standing on stage with journalists - people who are usually involved in news and reports - gave me a very different perspective on them. The performances were well-invested and full of enthusiasm. We learned a lot and hope that there will be more meaningful playgrounds like this to connect and exchange between journalists and their partners, especially in the medical field."
The contest ended, but the echoes of the narrative melodies about journalism still resonate as a reminder of gratitude, responsibility and dedication.
At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded a total of 16 first, second and third prizes for each category. Of which, Gia Lai Newspaper won first prize for group singing, Ia Grai District Culture, Information and Sports Center won first prize for duet singing, An Khe Sugar Factory won first prize for solo singing. In addition, Gia Lai Newspaper was awarded the prize for the most impressive staging team.
