Mr. Liu Qiangdong was born in 1974, in a poor family in Quang Minh village (Jiangsu, China). With constant efforts, in 1992, he took the university entrance exam and passed the entrance exam to the People's University of China, majoring in Sociology.

However, with his family not having enough food to eat all year round, he was at risk of dropping out of school. Not wanting to let a studious young man put his future on hold, the villagers of Quang Minh together contributed 500 yuan (1.7 million VND) to help him with his tuition fees.

After receiving help from the people, he successfully entered university. During his 4 years of university, he managed to earn money while studying and working. After graduating in 1996, he worked for a foreign company. In 1998, he decided to quit his job to start his own business, founding JD.

After 27 years of establishment and development, JD is now one of the largest e-commerce corporations in China. Currently, he is also one of the richest billionaires in the world in 2024, with assets of more than 49.5 billion yuan (171,384 billion VND).

To achieve his current success, he always expressed his gratitude to the people of Quang Minh village: "Their help was the starting point for me to step out into the world ." Therefore, to repay this kindness, on January 8, before the Lunar New Year 2025, he sent gifts to nearly 1,500 households in the village. Accordingly, each gift he sent to each family included food, clothes and household items. In particular, the elderly over 60 years old will receive a red envelope of 10,000 yuan (34.6 million VND).

In addition, he also sent gifts to thank the teachers in the village. Each teacher will receive a lucky money worth 100,000 yuan (346 million VND). The total amount he sent to the teachers was 15 million yuan (51.9 billion VND). Through this gift, he wanted to express his gratitude to the teachers who taught him in the past.

Sharing with Jiupai News , Mr. Truong - billionaire Cuong Dong's primary school teacher of Chinese (Literature) said: "When he was in school, Cuong Dong was a good class monitor and a very exemplary student". Receiving a gift from a former student, a teacher also expressed her emotions: "Maybe many students only remember their high school or university teachers, not many people remember their primary school teachers. As time passes, they easily forget. Yet, Cuong Dong still remembers us".

Similar to billionaire Liu Qiangdong, Mr. Xu Jiayin also came from a poor family in Henan (China). His mother died when he was 2 years old, so Jiayin lived with his grandparents. In 1975, he took the university entrance exam but failed, so Jiayin decided to stay home and help his grandparents with farming. In 1978, he took the exam again and was admitted to Wuhan Iron and Steel Institute (now Wuhan University of Science and Technology), majoring in Metal Materials and Heat Treatment.

Upon receiving the news that he had passed the university entrance exam, Gia An shared his joy with his grandparents. After the happy moment, the whole family fell silent as his grandparents announced that they did not have enough money to pay his tuition. Upon hearing the news, teachers Chu Uyen and Trinh Thu Duc gave him 20 NDT (~69,000 VND). At that time, this amount of money was not small, otherwise he would not have been able to go to university.

After graduating from university in 1992, he worked at Wuyang Iron and Steel Company in Henan (China). In 1996, he quit his job and moved to Guangzhou to found Evergrande. Currently, this is one of the largest real estate groups in China. As the founder, he currently owns assets of about 200 billion yuan (692,199 billion VND).

After becoming a billionaire, he did not forget to repay his former teachers. In 2022, during a trip back to his hometown to visit sick teacher Chu Uyen, he learned that the house his teacher was living in was bought under a mortgage. As a way of saying thank you, he paid the entire amount of money for buying teacher Chu Uyen's house.

He also returned to his hometown to build hospitals, schools and help many poor children there to go to school. Every Tet holiday, he often sets aside some money to return to his hometown to visit his relatives.

Previously, in March 2018, villagers in Quan Ho, Toai Khe district, Tram Giang, Guangdong province (China) received news that a person would give each household a large villa for free.

A man named Tran Sinh spent 200 million NDT (about 683.6 billion VND) to carefully build 138 luxurious villas that are neatly arranged and balanced like a fairy tale town.

Tran Sinh was born into a poor family, lost his father when he was only 6 years old, the burden fell on his mother's shoulders and his younger brothers also dropped out of school early. Adversity has tempered and motivated the young man to study harder to change his life.

When the news of Chen Sheng’s admission to Peking University spread, the entire village in Guangdong Province (China) pooled together small bills to pay for the student’s travel expenses. Nearly 40 years later, Chen Sheng returned and repaid the village’s kindness.

"Building villas and creating livelihoods for everyone makes me very happy. I hope everyone takes care of the next generation so that they have the conditions to study and succeed. I hope there will be hundreds of Tran Sinh so that our village can develop more and more," he said at the housewarming ceremony of the whole village.
