On May 9th, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in coordination with the Da Nang City National Assembly Delegation and the Da Nang City People's Committee, organized a conference for interaction and dialogue with trade union members and workers in 2026.
Attending the conference were: Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Nguyen Anh Tuan; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee, Nguyen Manh Hung; Deputy Head of the City's National Assembly Delegation, Nguyen Duy Minh; along with city leaders and more than 300 trade union members representing over 220,000 members in 1,776 grassroots trade unions in the city.
A series of urgent recommendations stemming from the realities of workers' lives.
At the conference, union members and workers directly raised many difficulties and obstacles related to their lives, jobs, housing, transportation, social security, and labor rights.
One of the issues of great concern to many workers is social housing. Workers believe that the selling and renting prices of social housing are still high compared to average income, while the procedures for purchasing a home are still complicated. Workers petition the city to simplify administrative procedures and implement more preferential loan policies so that low-income earners can more easily access social housing.

Representing Bac My An Tourism Company, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung suggested that the city needs groundbreaking solutions to rapidly increase the social housing fund, and at the same time change the way social housing is allocated according to target groups and occupations to ensure it is in line with reality.
Regarding credit policies, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa from Morito Company in Da Nang reported that the Social Policy Bank's loan program for home repairs and medical expenses requires borrowers to have a household registration in the city. This makes it difficult for many migrant workers from other provinces to access capital. Workers are requesting that the loan eligibility be expanded to include temporary residents and migrant workers who are working stably in Da Nang.
Many also suggested that the city should enact specific policies for workers, especially non-financial welfare policies such as free bus tickets, affordable public services, and preferential treatment when using public services.
Representatives from UAC Vietnam Company suggested that there should be a preferential mechanism for workers with union membership cards to receive benefits from public services, tours, and travel. Meanwhile, Mr. Ngo Van Hau from Foss Electronics Company in Da Nang hoped that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor would have a subsidy policy so that union members could use union facilities in localities at a more affordable cost.
Another emerging issue is the lack of integrated infrastructure serving workers in industrial zones. Many union members have reported a shortage of kindergards and playgrounds for workers' children, forcing workers to send their children to informal childcare facilities at high costs and with constant anxiety.
Representatives from Dien Ngoc Vietnam Footwear Company proposed building a daycare center and playground for workers' children so that employees can work with peace of mind. Similarly, representatives of workers in Tan Thanh Industrial Park stated that the area lacks markets, retail outlets, and daycare facilities to serve the workers.
Removing traffic congestion and protecting workers' rights.
In addition to welfare issues, many workers also expressed concerns about traffic safety in industrial zones and on the routes they frequently travel.
Representatives from Dawa Vietnam Company reported that the Me Linh – Nguyen Tat Thanh extended – Nguyen Luong Bang traffic area is frequently congested during peak hours, with many heavy trucks circulating, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents. The workers requested that the city implement solutions to ensure the safety of workers commuting to work.

In Tan Thanh Industrial Park, many people have commented that the traffic light system is inadequate, especially in the area from National Highway 1A into the industrial park, which lacks traffic lights and poses a potential safety risk.
In addition, workers also proposed adding bus routes to serve the industrial zone to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate easier commuting for employees.
Regarding labor rights, representatives from Phu Thanh My Company reported that some businesses have long-standing debts to the social insurance fund, directly affecting workers' rights and causing losses to the insurance fund. Workers requested that the authorities take strict measures to address this issue.
Some opinions also expressed concern about the trend of applying AI to production lines, which could lead to job losses for unskilled workers. A representative from the 29/3 Textile Company suggested that the city should have solutions to support workers in adapting to technological transformation, while also coordinating with businesses and trade unions to motivate workers and maintain their morale.
In addition, workers also proposed increasing mobile medical examinations and treatment, screening for occupational diseases and cancer at preferential costs; establishing regulations for workers' dormitories; providing long-term loan, rent, and utility support for workers who are committed to the city; and strengthening food safety inspections at markets and price-stabilized areas serving workers.
In response to the opinions of union members and workers, the leaders of the National Assembly delegation of the city, the City People's Committee, and the trade union organization directly listened, answered questions, and directed relevant agencies to consider and handle or recommend to competent authorities to resolve difficulties and obstacles arising in practice.
Speaking at the conference, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized that this meeting demonstrated a spirit of understanding, openness, and responsibility between the government, trade unions, and workers. Accordingly, trade unions must be the first place members turn to when facing difficulties; trade union officials must truly "breathe the same breath as the workers," becoming an effective bridge between the Party, the government, and the workers, bringing policies and guidelines to each factory and each production shift.
The Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed that the concerns of workers are also the issues that the leaders of Da Nang city are striving to resolve every day. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will continue to compile workers' suggestions to propose improvements to mechanisms and policies that are appropriate to reality; and at the same time, requested that National Assembly delegates listen fully to the workers' concerns and reflect them in the parliamentary session. According to him, all growth targets are only truly meaningful when the rights and living standards of workers are fully guaranteed.
