The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lang Son province has recently sent a document to communes and wards in the province requesting them to strengthen the management and development of OCOP products.
According to the Department, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program in the province has contributed to promoting local economic development. However, there is still a situation where OCOP products are developed in a superficial manner, on a small scale, with unstable output and not closely linked to market demand.
Notably, the province currently has 79 OCOP products whose certification has expired but have not yet been proposed for re-evaluation, including 16 4-star OCOP products and 63 3-star OCOP products.

To improve the program's effectiveness, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests that the People's Committees of communes and wards review and assess the current status of OCOP products that are still valid, and proactively support their development or address difficulties for each product. At the same time, localities should propose revoking certifications for products that are no longer in production, do not meet quality standards, or have no further development plans.
For new products intended for OCOP ranking evaluation, communes and wards are required to conduct thorough surveys on production scale, raw material areas, commercialization potential, and product stability before preparing the application for recognition.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment also suggested that localities focus on developing stable commodity production areas, prioritizing distinctive products with the potential to create brands. The development of OCOP products should be linked to community tourism, rural tourism, and the application of technical standards to improve product quality.
In addition, OCOP producers are regularly guided to update product information on the province's OCOP and agricultural specialty product promotion website to increase market connectivity and product promotion.
