Not just a regular flight route, an airline, but the extension of this journey by Emirates - the world's largest airline group - is a great opportunity for tourism and cargo transportation between the central region and the world.

This also proves that the central region is emerging on the world trade and tourism map.

Tuoi Tre Online had a quick interview with Mr. Orhan Abbas - Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for the Far East Emirates.

Bringing Central Vietnam closer to the world

* Why did Emirates decide to extend the flight from Dubai to Thailand and to Da Nang this time?

- Mr. ORHAN ABBAS: With Emirates, we always research very carefully before deciding to open flights to any country or territory.

With Da Nang, we see great tourism potential as well as a high level of interest in this route. In addition to Da Nang, today, June 3, Emirates also opened a new route to Cambodia.

We believe that with the opening of two new routes that will connect Emirates to 23 destinations in the Far East, Central Vietnam will also be closer to the world.

* How will Da Nang benefit commercially from the extended flight route to the Middle East?

- Emirates operates to 140 destinations worldwide. We have a global network. Connecting to Da Nang will open a door to connect Da Nang to the world and bring the world to Da Nang, thereby promoting tourism and trade, bringing more goods back and forth.

With this connecting station between Thailand and Da Nang, we have also seen very efficient traffic flow. Opening a flight route to Da Nang this time is a right decision.

* How did Emirates introduce the image of Da Nang to global partners to attract the newly opened route?

- Recently, we have carried out promotional activities to Europe and the Middle East about the image of Da Nang as a coastal tourist city.

These advertisements take place in many different forms such as newspapers, social networks, media channels... The first step has shown the spread. We hope that success will continue, the international community will know and come to Da Nang to travel and do business more.

Emirates leader's promise to Da Nang city leader two years ago

"Opening the flight route will contribute to making Da Nang a trading center, shortening the distance between the city and strategic markets such as the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa.

We would like to express our special thanks to Mr. Orhan Abbas - (Emirates Senior Vice President) - who, together with his colleagues, fulfilled the promise made 2 years ago to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City to open a flight route connecting Dubai to Da Nang" - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Tran Chi Cuong - said when he went to the airport to welcome the high-ranking delegation from Emirates on the evening of June 2.

Emirates is the largest and most extensive airline in the Middle East with great potential, up to 4,100 flights/week from Dubai International Airport to 140 cities in more than 80 countries around the world.

Besides passenger transport, Emirates is also highly appreciated for the quality and safety in cargo transport.

Emirates is currently the largest airline in the world by passenger numbers, kilometers flown and second in cargo (by distance).

In Vietnam, Emirates Airlines is operating 25 flights per week to Vietnam, specifically: Hanoi - Dubai (UAE) with a frequency of 7 flights/week; Ho Chi Minh City - Dubai with a frequency of 14 flights/week and currently Da Nang with a frequency of 4 flights/week.

According to the plan, with this new route, Emirates will operate 4 flights per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Specifically: Flight Dubai - Bangkok (9:00 - 18:25), Bangkok - Da Nang (20:10 - 21:15). Flight Da Nang - Bangkok (23:30 - 1:10), Bangkok - Dubai (3:40 - 6:50).

Da Nang benefits greatly

“The European market has shown a great appetite for Thailand as a tourist experience. We have been operating this route since 1990, developing a strong international tourist base.

Setting up flights from Dubai to Da Nang via the Thai capital this time, Emirates will have a special offer package for the two destinations.

Tourists visiting Thailand can extend their vacation to Da Nang. Therefore, Da Nang will benefit greatly from this.

"Opening a route to Da Nang this time is just the starting point, in the future Emirates will have more flights" - said Mr. Nabil Sultan - Executive Vice President, Passenger Business and Country Administration Emirates.
