City leaders learn about experience in developing logistics and port supply chains at the Port of Gothenburg (Sweden)
(Haiphong.gov.vn) – From September 4 to September 9, 2024, the city's working delegation led by Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam paid an official visit and work in Sweden and Finland.
The delegation included leaders of a number of functional departments and branches, Saigon Newport Corporation, a member unit holding 51% of the charter capital of Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal Company Limited (TC-HICT).
Within the framework of the program, the delegation will attend the Vietnam - Sweden Business Forum; meet, connect with businesses in Sweden, Finland, and overseas Vietnamese in Hai Phong in the two countries; visit and work with the Vietnamese Embassy in the two countries; and work with the Vietnamese Embassy in Sweden to build a separate promotional space for Hai Phong city in a series of activities on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Sweden.
On September 4, 2024, the delegation had a working session at the Port of Gothenburg, Sweden. Receiving and working with the delegation, the Swedish side included: Mr. Richard Mellgren, Senior Director of Business Development of the Port of Gothenburg; Mr. Martin Jönsson, Director of Global Programs - Transport and Mobility, Swedish Trade and Investment Council; Mr. Kent Jellmund, Investment Consultant, Gothenburg Business Development Organization; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Thuy, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Sweden.
The Port of Gothenburg is the largest port in the Nordic countries with over 11,000 ship calls per year from over 140 destinations worldwide , and is the only Swedish port capable of handling the largest, most modern ocean-going container ships. Gothenburg handles nearly 30% of Sweden's foreign trade, including 39 million tonnes of cargo per year.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged and discussed contents related to the introduction of Gothenburg Port and the role of the Port as a factor facilitating Swedish industries to access the world; introducing the investment environment and typical logistics enterprises in Hai Phong; exchanging views and experiences on logistics development and port supply chains, trade promotion, human resource quality, technological solutions in port management and logistics; connecting port logistics companies to open direct sea routes between Sweden and Vietnam in general and between Gothenburg Port and Hai Phong ports in particular...
