On October 4, the People's Committee of Vung Tau Ward (HCMC) organized the opening ceremony of sports activities to open a series of cultural and tourism events of the Nghinh Ong Thang Tam Festival in 2025.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Van, Vice Chairman of Vung Tau Ward People's Committee, emphasized: "The Nghinh Ong Thang Tam Festival is not only a traditional festival of coastal fishermen, carrying profound spiritual values with the wish for a bountiful harvest, a prosperous and peaceful life, but also a key cultural and tourism event of Ho Chi Minh City. The festival is included in the series of major city-level festival activities in 2025, contributing to affirming the position and brand of Vung Tau".
Immediately after the opening ceremony, delegates, people, tourists and athletes participated in a 1,000m walk from Tam Thang Square to the Martyrs' Monument roundabout and vice versa.
Afterwards, vibrant folk dance performances took place at Tam Thang tower area, attracting the participation of hundreds of locals and tourists.

Tomorrow (October 5), the Vung Tau Open Sea Swimming Competition with distances of 1,000m for women and 3,000m for men with the participation of 300 athletes will also take place at Bai Sau beach area.
From October 11 to 13, the basketball tournament was held at the basketball court in Thuy Van park.

This year's Nghinh Ong Thang Tam festival has many exciting activities to attract tourists and promote the image of "Vung Tau - A unique cultural, sports and sea tourism destination".
In addition to sports, the festival also has other events such as: Sea culture week and festival; painting exhibition, folk games; "Golden Bell" contest...
The main ceremony takes place over 3 days from October 7 to 9 (from August 16 to August 18 of the lunar calendar) with the following rituals: Nghinh Ong ceremony on the sea, Nghinh Ong palanquin procession and parade on the street, ceremony to invite the god's decree at the village communal house...
