Inauguration ceremony of Son La City Drainage and Wastewater Treatment System Project

The project of drainage and wastewater treatment system of Son La city in Tong village, Chieng An ward uses ODA capital from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. The project has a total adjusted investment of 923.4 billion VND; implementation period from 2012 - 2025. Investment scale, 6,900 m3/day and night using biological wastewater treatment technology (AO); 7 pumping stations, capacity of pumping stations from 67 ^m3 /h - 780.98 ^m3 /h; construction of a network of pipelines to collect wastewater at levels 1, 2, 3 and pressure pipelines with a total length of over 75 km, with diameters from 160mm to 500mm. The project builds a wastewater connection system for nearly 9,000 households, businesses and agencies and units in the area to the project's general wastewater collection and treatment system.

The system upgrades the rainwater drainage system on roads with a total length of over 2.5km; renovates and repairs main traffic routes in the city with a total length of over 8.4km. The project invests in a synchronous system of modern operational management equipment, including a pipeline network inspection robot with integrated camera connected to an electronic screen, a vacuum truck, a high-pressure cleaning truck, a mud transport truck, a wheel loader, a backup power supply system, etc., serving the operation and maintenance of the system.

The wastewater collection and treatment system of the central wards of Son La province is invested synchronously with modern advanced technology lines according to European standards, collecting wastewater and domestic waste directly from households, without going through septic tanks, directly into the pipeline network and transmitting to the treatment plant. This is a modernly designed collection and treatment system, allowing households when building houses to not need to build septic tanks but only need to connect directly to the general collection system. Up to now, only 04 localities have successfully applied this model nationwide, of which Son La is the first and only locality in the Northern provinces.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 02 groups and 06 individuals who had outstanding achievements in directing, organizing, implementing and constructing the Son La City Drainage and Wastewater Treatment System Project.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Dinh Viet praised and acknowledged the efforts and high sense of responsibility of departments, branches, sectors, construction units, consultants, supervisors, and the consensus and support of the people throughout the project implementation process, especially the support of the German Reconstruction Bank - the unit that has accompanied, sponsored and created favorable conditions both financially and technically throughout the implementation process. He affirmed that the drainage and wastewater treatment system of Son La city will be managed and operated effectively, maximizing its value, contributing to building a green - clean - beautiful - civilized Son La. He requested the Management Board of ODA projects of Son La province to focus on operating the project in accordance with the approved plan and process , ensuring quality and progress as committed, and complying with the provisions of law. He hoped that in the coming time, Son La province will continue to receive attention, support and expand cooperation opportunities from the German Reconstruction Bank, for the goal of sustainable development and common prosperity.
