Groundbreaking ceremony for the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway component project.

BPO - Along with the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies of key projects nationwide, this morning, April 19th, in Dong Xoai city, the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province solemnly held the groundbreaking ceremony for component project 3 "Investment in the construction of access roads and overpasses across the section through Binh Phuoc province" and component project 5 "Compensation, support, and resettlement of the section through Binh Phuoc province" of the investment project to build the North-South Expressway (Western section) from Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) to Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc).

This is one of the key national projects, initiated by the Prime Minister to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The ceremony was broadcast live on BPTV1, BPTV2, and the digital platforms of Binh Phuoc Radio and Television and Newspaper (BPTV), as well as widely broadcast nationwide on Vietnam Television.

Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh; leaders and former leaders of Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong provinces; and a large number of people from Dong Xoai city attended the ceremony.

The Western section of the North-South Expressway from Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) to Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) is 124.13 km long and is being invested in under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with a total investment of approximately VND 25,540 billion. The project is divided into 5 component projects, including: 1 component project invested under the PPP method and 4 component projects invested under the public investment method.

The project is expected to be substantially completed by 2026 and put into operation in 2027. Once operational, the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway will not only connect and create new development opportunities for Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong provinces, but also help exploit land use potential, develop tourism, processing industries, and mining industries, gradually restructuring the economy of the Central Highlands region; contributing to the successful achievement of socio-economic development goals and tasks, ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions, and contributing to the development of the country in the era of Vietnam's progress.

The ceremony was honored to welcome leaders from the central government, current and former leaders of Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong provinces, business units, and a large number of people from Dong Xoai city.
