On August 8th, at the Indonesian Embassy in Romania, the Vietnamese Embassy, in coordination with the ASEAN Committee in Bucharest (ACB) (comprising Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam), solemnly organized a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The year 2025 also marks the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's official accession to ASEAN (1995-2025). This is a particularly significant milestone, affirming Vietnam's journey of companionship and positive contributions to the development, expansion, and enhancement of ASEAN's role in the region and internationally.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Calin Mitri, Director General of the Department of Global Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, as the Guest of Honor, along with many leaders and representatives from Romanian ministries, departments, businesses, research institutions, schools, and a large number of diplomatic representatives.

At the event, Philippine Ambassador Noel Servigon, Chairman of ACB, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the Ambassadors, commending the friendly relations and good cooperation between Romania and ASEAN over the past period.
Affirming that Romania is a partner with great potential, playing a bridging role between ASEAN and the European Union, Ambassador Noel Servigon expressed confidence that through regular dialogue, promoting trade and investment, cooperation in education and culture, and people-to-people exchanges, relations between Romania and ASEAN will continue to develop strongly, bringing practical benefits to both sides and contributing to maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in both regions.

Mr. Calin Mitri, Director General of the Department of Global Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, extended his warmest congratulations to the governments and people of ASEAN countries on this momentous occasion, while emphasizing the increasingly positive development of relations between Romania and ASEAN in political, economic, and people-to-people exchanges.
Romania considers ASEAN a crucial partner in the Asia-Pacific region, not only because of its vast market potential but also because of ASEAN's increasingly prominent role in maintaining peace, stability, and promoting regional cooperation. Romania expressed its desire to further deepen substantive cooperation, contributing to connecting Romania with ASEAN and strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of both sides.

On this occasion, ASEAN countries also organized activities to showcase their unique cultures, tourism, and cuisines, demonstrating the diversity of their identities and cultures, as well as the spirit of solidarity and unity within the ASEAN community.

The event was a great success, making a positive contribution to promoting the image of ASEAN in general and Vietnam in particular, leaving a deep impression on participating guests and building and strengthening friendly relations with other countries and connections with a large local business community.
