Strengthening Vietnam - Romania friendship

The event was held on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of Romania's National Day and the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, affirming the strong friendship between Vietnam and Romania.

On the morning of November 29, in Hanoi, the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association organized a Friendship Meeting event to celebrate the 107th anniversary of Romania's National Day (December 1, 1918 - December 1, 2025) and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Romania diplomatic relations (1950 - 2025).

Attending the event were President of the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association Ho Quang Loi, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Cristina Romila and many members of the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ho Quang Loi emphasized the important achievements that the Romanian people have made in building and developing the country in recent times, despite many difficulties and fluctuations in the international situation.

He said Romania was one of the first 10 countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam 75 years ago. Over the historical periods, the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries has been continuously strengthened and expanded in many fields such as education - training, science - technology, security - defense, culture - sports - tourism and health.

Many high-level visits have been carried out, including the official visit to Romania by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh in September 2025, contributing to further strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

Vietnam and Romania also maintain close contact through all Party and State channels; strengthen cooperation between localities and promote people-to-people exchanges. Romania is currently Vietnam's largest partner in the Balkan region, while Vietnam is Romania's largest trade partner in ASEAN.

According to Mr. Ho Quang Loi, established in 1991, the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association has always been an active member of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, playing the role of a bridge to promote economic, trade, education and tourism cooperation; supporting labor exchange; actively participating in volunteer activities for the community.

He expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Romania friendship and comprehensive cooperation will continue to develop strongly in the coming time.

Speaking at the event, Romanian Ambassador Cristina Romila affirmed that the traditional good relationship between the two countries remains firmly consolidated in the complex international context. The Ambassador said that Vietnam is currently one of Romania's important partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2025, bilateral cooperation has made many positive steps, especially after Vietnam exempted entry visas for Romanian citizens. Trade and investment continued to be promoted, including in new areas such as green energy.

In terms of politics and foreign affairs, parliamentary dialogue is maintained regularly, demonstrated through the official visit to Bucharest by the Vice President of the Vietnamese National Assembly.

The Ambassador also emphasized the outstanding cultural milestones in the bilateral relationship in recent times, such as the exhibition on the famous sculptor Constantin Brâncuși at Bat Trang Museum or the concert by cellist Dinh Hoai Xuan – events that attracted the attention of a large public.

Ms. Cristina Romila expressed her delight at the effective cooperation between the two countries, and affirmed that Romania will continue to promote the bilateral relationship to develop substantially and sustainably in the coming time.
