Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations ; Mr. Ho Quang Loi, President of the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association; Ms. Cristina Romila, Ambassador of Romania to Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, President of the Vietnam – Romania Friendship Association Ho Quang Loi reviewed the historical significance of Romania’s National Day (December 1, 1918) – a milestone affirming the victory of the struggle for national unification. He said that Romania, now a member of the European Union, is achieving many positive socio -economic achievements.

Mr. Ho Quang Loi emphasized that Romania is one of the first 10 countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Over the past 75 years, the relationship between the two countries has witnessed many important milestones. Established in 1991, the Vietnam - Romania Friendship Association currently has nearly 1,200 members in 14 branches nationwide.
In recent times, the Association has actively acted as a bridge to promote economic, trade, education, culture, tourism and support labor exchange, thereby contributing to promoting comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. The Association has also maintained close coordination with the Romanian Embassy in Vietnam and its partners, especially the Vietnam - Romania Lotus Friendship Association. In April 2025, the Central Association coordinated with relevant units to organize information exchange activities to promote bilateral economic - trade - investment cooperation.

Regarding the upcoming tasks, Mr. Ho Quang Loi said that the Association is preparing for the 8th Congress to take place in 2026, and at the same time expressed his thanks for the attention and support of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and highly appreciated the active coordination of Ambassador Cristina Romila in developing relations between the two countries.
Speaking at the event, Romanian Ambassador Cristina Romila shared the significance of Romania’s National Day, reviewed the country’s socio-economic development achievements and international position. The Ambassador affirmed that Romania always strives to promote Vietnam-EU cooperation and highly appreciated Vietnam’s decision to waive visas for Romanian citizens until 2028, considering this a great opportunity to enhance people-to-people exchanges and multifaceted cooperation.

Ambassador Cristina Romila stressed: Vietnam continues to be one of Romania’s main partners in the Asia-Pacific region, a country with which we have a traditional bilateral relationship, based on the long-standing friendship between the two peoples and strengthened over time through solidarity and mutual support. The Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association have once again proven to be one of the most active contributors to bilateral relations and people-to-people diplomacy.
According to Ms. Cristina Romila, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Romania diplomatic relations is an important milestone, contributing to deepening the friendship and enhancing trust between the people of the two countries.
The friendship meeting is an opportunity for people who have been associated with Romania to meet, exchange and bond.
