The death toll from floods and landslides on Indonesia's Sumatra island has risen to 303, the country's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said on November 29. Rescuers said access to isolated areas on Sumatra island - the hardest-hit area - was difficult.

BNPB chief Suharyanto said that although about 80,000 people had been evacuated, at least 279 people were still missing and hundreds were still stranded in three provinces on Sumatra island - Indonesia's westernmost region.
