Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Quang Loi, Chairman of the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association, said that on December 1, 2023, the courageous, peace- loving, generous, compassionate, hardworking, and creative Romanian people celebrated the 105th anniversary of their National Day. This day marks the unification not only of Trasnylvania but also of Bessarabia, Bukovina, and parts of Banat, Crisana, and Maramures into the Kingdom of Romania.

According to Mr. Ho Quang Loi, Romania is one of the 10 countries that established diplomatic relations with Vietnam earliest. Continuing the fine tradition built and tested throughout history, in recent years, the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Romania has expanded and deepened in the fields of politics , diplomacy, trade, agriculture, industry, labor, tourism, education and training…
Mr. Ho Quang Loi expressed his wish for the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Romania to develop further, commensurate with the fine tradition of friendship and the potential and strengths of both countries.
"It is encouraging that the friendly and cooperative relationship between localities of the two countries is increasingly strengthened; some provinces and cities of the two countries have established sister city relationships; people-to-people exchanges are becoming more diverse, demonstrating the new vitality of the close friendship between Vietnam and Romania," said Mr. Ho Quang Loi.
At the meeting, Ms. Cristina Romila, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Vietnam, highly appreciated the long-standing traditional relationship between the Vietnamese and Romanian peoples, which has been nurtured throughout the resistance period and into peacetime.
In particular, Ms. Cristina Romila stated that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had previously studied in Romania. On September 20th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis to further strengthen bilateral relations in the coming period. During the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that both sides increase contact and exchange delegations, especially at the high level, and continue to create breakthroughs in trade and investment so that relations between the two countries develop in proportion to the potential and advantages of each country.
Ms. Cristina Romila stated that, over the past period, the Romanian Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania have actively worked to connect and coordinate closely with a number of ministries, localities, agencies, and schools to develop cooperation programs.
Ms. Cristina Romila emphasized the prospect of even stronger growth in economic relations between the two countries in most sectors, such as agricultural products and footwear... And recently, on November 21st, a Romanian delegation led by the Romanian Minister of Economy visited Hanoi to hold the 17th session of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation.
Regarding education and training, Ms. Cristina Romila informed that the Romanian Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania have actively worked to connect and coordinate closely with a number of ministries, localities, agencies, and schools to develop specific cooperation programs.
"On April 1st, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc and I signed the Cooperation Program in the field of education and training between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of Romania for the period 2022-2026. Annually, the two sides will exchange on a reciprocal basis, with a maximum of 20 full scholarships for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral training in fields mutually agreed upon," Ms. Cristina Romila emphasized.

According to the Romanian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam, the friendship and cultural exchange between the people of the two countries have continued to be strengthened and nurtured this year through activities and events in both Vietnam and Romania.
In Romania, Dr. Pavel Suian's 556-page book, "The Wonderful Vietnam," was launched and widely introduced, providing readers with a comprehensive picture of Vietnam. It is considered a valuable resource for the people of Romania in particular, and the world in general, to better understand the country and people of Vietnam.
Major concerts by prestigious Romanian symphony orchestras have come to Vietnam, delivering world-class musical performances and generating significant public acclaim.
Also within the framework of the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association awarded Certificates of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association in 2023 to collectives and individuals who have made significant contributions to fostering strong friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Romania.
