Inauguration of Lang Son - China freight route

On the evening of November 27, the People's Committee of Lang Son province and the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China jointly organized the inauguration ceremony of the specialized road for transporting goods in the area of markers 1119 - 1120 of the smart border gate Huu Nghi (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (China).

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Canh Toan - Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Vi Thao - Chairman of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China and representatives of a number of relevant agencies of both countries.

The project to expand the specialized freight transport route at the area of markers 1119 - 1120 of Huu Nghi International Border Gate is part of the pilot project to build a smart border gate, invested by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board. The project has a total investment of over 174.7 billion VND, divided into 2 phases: phase 1 expands from 4 lanes to 6 lanes and phase 2 expands from 6 lanes to 14 lanes.

After actively implementing the project, the specialized road for transporting goods in the area of milestones 1119 - 1120 of the Huu Nghi (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (China) smart border gate, phase 1, has been completed, contributing to improving the capacity of customs clearance of goods between the two sides.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Canh Toan - Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that 2025 is a year of special significance in the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China: the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and at the same time the "Year of Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange" according to the common perception and direct direction of the senior leaders of the two Parties and the two States.

The Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the inauguration of the specialized road for transporting goods in the area of landmarks 1119 - 1120 has a particularly important meaning, being the first and fundamental step in the process of building the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan smart border gate model.

“The project not only contributes to improving customs clearance capacity but also creates a premise for synchronous implementation of the following items, towards a modern border gate model, digital connection, effective management, safety and convenience for people and businesses on both sides,” said Mr. Nguyen Canh Toan.

To speed up the progress and ensure the effectiveness of the smart border gate model, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to direct specialized agencies to strengthen coordination, share information fully and promptly; and soon agree on important contents such as technical standards, connection infrastructure, management - operation model, data exchange mechanism and common inspection and control procedures.

The two sides continue to expand cooperation in digital transformation, information technology, modern border management, ensuring smooth and effective operation of smart border gates. From there, it contributes to fostering and building the increasingly strong and substantive friendship and cooperation relationship between Lang Son and Guangxi.

At the ceremony, Mr. Vi Thao - Chairman of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region - expressed that the inauguration of the specialized freight road project is of great significance and plays a key role in contributing to improving the capacity of customs clearance of goods through the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan border gate pair.

This is a step marking the formation of a smart border gate between the two sides. Mr. Vi Thao, the friendly and cooperative relationship between Guangxi and Lang Son province will increasingly develop.

During the program, the leaders of the two provinces/regions announced the inauguration of the specialized road for transporting goods. Immediately after the announcement of the inauguration, the delegates witnessed the opening of import and export goods through the border gate.
