Delegation of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the 6th Asia-Europe Political Forum in Hungary

From November 27-29, the 6th Meeting of the Asia-Europe Political Forum (AEPF) took place in Budapest, Hungary with the theme "Peace and Democracy in Eurasia".

The delegation of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Comrade Bui Le Thai, Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary, attended the events and carried out the delegation's activities.

Discussing at the meeting, the parties said that the world situation is evolving very complicatedly, deeply impacting the politics of many countries and having a profound impact on international cooperation. Europe is facing many challenges due to the ongoing geopolitical changes in the region.

With the desire to enhance dialogue and consolidate trust, delegates expressed their appreciation for the AEPF's role as a bridge to promote Asia-Europe cooperation, enhance trust and establish a foundation for peace , stability, cooperation and democracy in Asia and Europe; acknowledged the efforts of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the member parties of the European Parliament to continue to strengthen cooperation and sharing, contributing to continuing to uphold the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, the spirit of mutual respect, respect for international law, and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Within the framework of the 6th AEPF, the ruling FIDESZ party - the host of the meeting - initiated the idea of ​​organizing a Thematic Session "Promoting dialogue and cooperation - meeting of research institutions" to establish a cooperation mechanism between research institutes and policy consulting organizations of parties and AEPF member countries.

Speaking at the Plenary Session, Ambassador Bui Le Thai highly appreciated the meeting's theme, sharing his views on the impacts of the world situation on the sustainable development prospects of countries, as well as the challenges posed to multilateral cooperation.

The Ambassador stressed that peace, stability and cooperation are not only the common aspirations of mankind but also prerequisites for sustainable development and the protection of genuine democracy; he called on countries to continue upholding the principle of resolving differences by peaceful means, through dialogue, mutual understanding and respect for international law.

Vietnam highly appreciates the role of ICAPP in promoting dialogue between political parties in Asia, as well as in strengthening and creating an inter-regional environment for dialogue and policy exchange. The Ambassador also informed extensively about the policy of building socialist democracy and the achievements in ensuring human rights that Vietnam has achieved in the past 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process.

At the same time, he emphasized that the result of Vietnam being elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term is a vivid demonstration of the international community's recognition and trust in Vietnam's development achievements, protection of people's legitimate rights and interests, as well as Vietnam's positive contributions to the process of ensuring democracy and social progress in the world.

During the meeting, the Head of the Vietnamese delegation had bilateral meetings with many international partners to discuss measures to promote cooperation in the coming time. The Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee expressed his hope that cooperation between the two ruling parties and the two governments would continue to develop more deeply and extensively in the coming time.

ICAPP leaders hope that Vietnam will continue to actively contribute to the process of promoting cooperation between ICAPP and AEPF member parties, contributing to the strong development of inter-regional cooperation, effectively consolidating the environment of peace, stability and common prosperity in the world and for the people of countries in the Asia-Europe continent.

AEPF was established in 2017 as a cooperation mechanism between ICAPP and party groups in the European Parliament, aiming to become an important second channel alongside the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to contribute to promoting connectivity between Asia and Europe.

The AEPF is held annually on a rotational basis between the two continents. To date, the Forum has held five meetings, affirming its role as an effective bridge in enhancing exchanges and promoting cooperation between political parties in Asia and Europe.
