In this match, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team defeated Cambodia 3-0. Previously, on the opening day, coach Tran Dinh Tien's team suffered a humiliating 0-3 defeat against the Philippines.
But the joy of victory for the whole team was not complete because of the unfortunate injury of libero Cao Duc Hoang. The situation leading to the injury was also quite rare.
In set 2, when the score was 14-12 in favor of the Vietnamese team, a Cambodian player served the ball out. The Vietnamese players gathered around to celebrate this score, including Cao Duc Hoang.
However, the libero wearing the number 23 jersey accidentally collided with his teammate Pham Quoc Du and sat down on the field in pain. The television camera recorded this image showing that Quoc Du's leg accidentally stepped on Cao Duc Hoang's leg.
The collision seemed light but caused Cao Duc Hoang severe pain, most likely tearing his shirt. The coaching staff and athletes of the Vietnamese team had to carry the libero off the field. Cao Duc Hoang could not continue and had to sit on the sidelines to watch his teammates play until the end of the match.

The severity of Cao Duc Hoang's injury is still unknown. If he has to sit out the rest of the tournament, it will be a big loss for the Vietnamese men's volleyball team. They will only have one libero player left, Trinh Duy Phuc.
This is only the first year Cao Duc Hoang has been called up to the national team. However, the libero of The Cong Tan Cang has integrated very quickly and won the main position. His ability to judge situations and defend first has helped Cao Duc Hoang gain the full trust of coach Tran Dinh Tien.
