Hanoi's road closure schedule for today, May 12, 2026, applies in three time slots. Morning: 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Midday: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Afternoon: 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Prohibited and permitted vehicles

During the hours when road closures are in effect, trucks with a design gross weight of 1.5 tons or more are prohibited from circulating. Passenger vehicles with 16 seats or more are also subject to the temporary ban.

Vehicles permitted to circulate during the road closure include buses, garbage trucks, emergency response vehicles, vehicles with security badges, police and military vehicles, and priority vehicles as prescribed.

Seven routes are subject to closures and restrictions.

The Hanoi road closure schedule applies to 7 main roads in the western and southwestern areas of the capital. These roads are concentrated around the National Convention Center - the venue for the Congress.

Alternative routes for intercity transport

Hanoi City Police have provided guidance on three alternative routes for vehicles temporarily banned during the scheduled road closures.

Vehicles traveling from eastern provinces (Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh ) to northern and northwestern provinces (Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang) follow the route Thanh Tri Bridge - Hanoi - Bac Giang Expressway - National Highway 18 and vice versa.

Vehicles traveling from the East to the Western and Northwestern provinces (Phu Tho, Son La, Dien Bien ) follow the route Thanh Tri Bridge - Do Muoi - Ngoc Hoi - Phan Trong Tue - Buou Bridge - Phuc La - Van Khe - Le Trong Tan - National Highway 6 and vice versa.

Vehicles coming from Vo Van Kiet Street and Thang Long Bridge towards Thang Long Boulevard follow the route Pham Van Dong - Ho Tung Mau - Cau Dien - National Highway 32 - Provincial Road 70 and vice versa.
