Hanoi University of Science and Technology's 2024 Thinking Assessment Exam Schedule

According to information from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, candidates participating in the thinking assessment exam will be granted a certificate of exam results valid for two years and can use this score to apply for admission to universities that accept this result.

The 2024 thinking assessment exam is expected to take place on Saturdays/Sundays:

- Phase 1: December 2 - 3, 2023;

- Phase 2: January 20 - 21, 2024;

- Phase 3: March 9 - 10, 2024;

- Phase 4: April 27 - 28, 2024;

- Phase 5: June 8 - 9, 2024;

- Phase 6: June 15 - 16, 2024.

The content and format of the exam remain stable as in 2023, with 3 parts: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension (30 minutes) and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving (60 minutes) with three levels of thinking assessment (reproducible thinking, deductive thinking and higher-order thinking).

In the Mathematical Thinking test, the school evaluates the ability to think and apply basic knowledge of Mathematics to solve real-life problems, and also evaluates the ability to study Mathematics and related sciences at university level of the candidate. The knowledge content of the Mathematical Thinking test is in the high school program, mainly grades 11 and 12.

Reading comprehension section, reading comprehension content is one of the core competencies, necessary for self-study and lifelong learning. This section focuses on assessing the ability to read quickly, understand correctly, along with the ability to analyze, interpret texts, generalize, synthesize, argue logically and make inferences from Vietnamese texts. Reading comprehension content in the test is diverse and rich, mainly related to topics of science and technology, literature, and journalism.

The Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving section will assess the ability to apply comprehensive knowledge to solve problems in the most reasonable way. The questions are in the form of integrating issues related to the fields of science, technology, economics, and engineering.

Multiple choice test format with 4 types of questions: Multiple choice, true-false, drag/drop answers, short answer.

In 2023, the thinking assessment exam will have many advantages for students in the test-taking process. The exam will be adjusted to be compact (duration 150 minutes) and organized in the form of multiple choice on the computer.

The university admission majors that can use the expanded thinking assessment test results include Science and Technology, Economics, Engineering, Industry, Agriculture, Finance, Banking, and Medicine.
