Twelve higher-level trade unions were dissolved, reducing the number of organizations by 67.
At the conference, the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor decided to dissolve 12 grassroots-level trade unions. Specifically, these are the trade unions of: City officials, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, the health sector, the education sector, the textile and garment industry, and public utility service and trade enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, there are grassroots trade unions in the following sectors: the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Health , the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and central commercial enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor announced the establishment of the Trade Union of Party Agencies in Ho Chi Minh City and appointed Cao Van Thang, Chief of the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor's Office, as its chairman.
Simultaneously, Mr. Luong Tuan Anh (chairman of the City's Civil Servants' Union) was established and appointed as chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Union.
Mr. Vo Khac Thai said that the restructuring of the trade union system in Ho Chi Minh City was carried out in a short period of time, and the structure, organization, and apparatus have now been basically completed as directed.
Thus, the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor has reduced its number of departments from 7 to 4, resulting in a reduction of 67 affiliated units. This includes a decrease from 46 to 25 higher-level trade unions directly under the grassroots level, and a reduction from 68 to 22 comprehensively affiliated grassroots trade unions.
"We acknowledge that many trade union officials are willing to sacrifice their own interests to facilitate the restructuring and streamlining of the organization. This is gradually increasing the effectiveness of the city's trade union activities, focusing on and strengthening practical care for union members and workers," said Mr. Vo Khac Thai.
