On the afternoon of August 1, in Da Nang City, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a conference on "Promoting regional connectivity in e-commerce development".
Bringing regional specialties to the world with digital technology
Ms. Le Hoang Oanh, Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), said that in the period of 2023-2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has chaired and coordinated with localities across the country to organize a series of activities to promote regional linkages in e-commerce development.
From seminars, digital skills training courses to livestream sessions promoting OCOP products and regional specialties, the activities in the event series have created positive changes, strongly spreading the spirit of innovation in business. Many business households, cooperatives, and small businesses accessing e-commerce for the first time have been able to build digital booths, reaching domestic and international consumers with just a few online operations.
The chain of regional linkage activities is deployed in many key areas such as the Mekong Delta, the Northern midlands and mountains, the Central Highlands, the North Central Coast and the Central Coast.
In Lai Chau, the Mega Livestream program in 2025 attracted nearly 800,000 live views, with online revenue exceeding 300 million VND after just one campaign. Communication campaigns with the hashtags #nongsanlaichau and #lienketvungLaiChau recorded more than 50 million views on social media platforms, contributing to significantly enhancing the recognition of local products.
In the North Central and Central Coast regions, through digital training courses and platform connections, more than 4,000 websites and e-commerce booths have been successfully built and operated by businesses and business households. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands provinces such as Gia Lai have recorded many cooperatives that have converted from the traditional fresh product sales model to consuming processed products through e-commerce platforms, helping to increase value and expand the consumer market.
Accompanying the program are major platforms such as Shopee, TikTok shop, Lazada, Viettel Post, San Viet... These units not only provide sales and logistics tools but also directly participate in training livestream skills, optimizing booths, building marketing content and managing orders for local business entities.
Based on the achieved results, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and localities agreed on a number of major orientations for the 2026-2030 period, such as: Completing the legal corridor and policies to support e-commerce by region; upgrading logistics and digital payment infrastructure; building a database of typical products; strengthening the regional linkage model; and promoting cross-border e-commerce.

Completing multi-platform digital infrastructure, developing "digital market" model
Mr. Huynh Xuan Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang City, affirmed that e-commerce is one of the city's strategic breakthroughs in developing the digital economy. With its central location in the Central Highlands and the advantage after merging administrative boundaries with Quang Nam province, Da Nang is now a city of more than 3 million people, with a diverse market structure and rich product potential.
Up to now, Da Nang City has had more than 552 OCOP products, hundreds of typical rural industrial products, regional specialties... which are a solid foundation for the city to access domestic and international e-commerce platforms.
From 2023 to present, the city has implemented many e-commerce development activities, such as: Building Da Nang e-commerce platforms, online shopping maps, digital transformation training for more than 3,000 businesses and small traders, organizing livestream sessions to sell OCOP products on Facebook, TikTok, implementing the "4.0 market" model, cashless streets...
However, Mr. Son said that e-commerce activities in the locality still face many barriers: Limited equipment and digital skills in the group of micro-enterprises and small traders; the level of e-commerce access is fragmented, depending on intermediary platforms; the digital gap between urban and rural areas; and the situation of online commercial fraud affecting consumer confidence.
Regarding solutions in the coming time, Da Nang will focus on three main groups: Completing multi-platform digital infrastructure, promoting digital transformation training (AI application, QR, livestream sales...), developing the "digital market" model, supporting businesses to participate in multi-channel and cross-border e-commerce, especially bringing local products into the global value chain.
The conference is an important part of the series of activities of the Digital Trade and Regional Connectivity Week 2025 - a large-scale event focusing on three contents: promoting regional connectivity in e-commerce, digital transformation for traditional market traders and promoting cashless payments.
