British media reports indicate that Liverpool have maintained contact with Kubo's representatives over the past year. In January 2024, the Anfield club discussed the striker's future but did not submit a formal offer to Sociedad.

Kubo has a release clause of around £50 million. Currently, Liverpool still prioritizes negotiations to keep Salah. If the deal falls through, the Anfield club will turn to recruiting Kubo as a replacement.

Besides Liverpool, Tottenham and Bayern Munich are also closely monitoring this Japanese international.

Kubo is having a significant impact at Sociedad in La Liga. He has scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists for the Spanish club. His impressive performances in the Copa del Rey, particularly in the semi-final against Real Madrid, have earned him praise.

Currently, Real Sociedad are 10th in La Liga and risk missing out on European competition next season. If they don't finish in the top eight, the club will likely have to sell key players. Besides Kubo, Martin Zubimendi could also leave. The midfielder is being pursued by Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Real Madrid has the priority right to re-sign Kubo, but this is unlikely to happen. Their crowded attacking line-up with Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, and Rodrygo makes them uninterested in Kubo.

However, if Sociedad sells Kubo to another team, Real Madrid will receive 50% of the transfer fee thanks to a clause included in the contract.
