Konate is in Real's sights. |
According to Marca , the Spanish royal team is quietly building a plan to approach French defender Konate in the context that this player's current contract with Liverpool only expires in June 2026.
The stalled contract renewal negotiations are opening up an opportunity for Real Madrid to approach Konate. "Los Blancos" are all too familiar with the tactic of recruiting star players on free transfers.
In fact, the Bernabeu team has been very successful with this method when recruiting famous names such as David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, and most recently Kylian Mbappe and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Possessing an ideal physique, good reading of the game, speed and a modern playing style, Konate fits the defensive system that coach Xabi Alonso is building.
If the Konate deal goes through, Liverpool will once again lose a key cog in their squad. And with Virgil van Dijk also getting older, the Premier League champions will certainly have to act aggressively in the transfer market to find a worthy replacement.
