According to the voting results in Congress, Mr. Micheal Martin received 95 votes in favor and 76 votes against, according to the AP news agency.

Speaking to MPs after being elected Prime Minister, Mr. Michael Martin emphasized the importance of carrying out the tasks ahead in the context of many fluctuations in the world, which is to protect Ireland's strength and position but at the same time must meet urgent social needs.

According to Mr. Martin, Ireland needs to strengthen its economic model based on three important relationships with Europe, the US and the UK, saying that changes in the US will bring many challenges, although the Ireland-US relationship has always brought benefits to both sides.

The new Irish Prime Minister believes that despite the fluctuations, the relationship between this country and Washington will continue to grow strongly.

The day before, the Irish Parliament had to suspend its session twice due to tense disputes caused by opposition parties, causing the process of electing a Prime Minister to last overnight.

Previously, Mr. Michael Martin served as Prime Minister from 2020-2022. In the election last November, he led the center-right Fianna Fail party to win the most seats in the National Assembly.

Fianna Fail then reached an agreement to form a three-way coalition with Fine Gael and a group of independent MPs, securing an absolute majority in Parliament to form a new coalition government in Ireland.
