The highlight of the competition night was the confrontation between two candidates Ly Van Huynh and Do Thanh Chuong, a key match to determine who would win the vacant 77kg championship belt.
Right in the first round, Thanh Chuong caused many difficulties for Van Huynh, making it impossible for the 1998-born boxer to use his signature left kick. Van Huynh's lightning-fast attacks were continuously neutralized by his opponent's series of flexible foot and hand attacks and effective knee strikes.
In the second round, a surprise occurred when Van Huynh's familiar left kick hit the target, leaving Thanh Chuong vulnerable. In a hasty counterattack, Thanh Chuong was hit by a vicious left punch from his opponent. Not missing the opportunity, Ly Van Huynh launched a series of accurate ground-and-pound punches, forcing the referee to intervene and ending the match with a technical knockout victory.
With this impressive victory, Ly Van Huynh has won the right to compete for the 77kg championship for the third time. His next opponent will be Jovidon Khojaev, the 70kg champion who has just announced that he is moving up in rank to pursue his second title at the LION Championship.
In the main event of the night – MMA Striking, WBC Muay Thai International Champion, former ONE Championship fighter – Tran Quoc Tuan faced Omnoi Stadium (Thailand) champion, Vorapon Jayamram.
Vorapon showed his experience and superior class with his ability to control distance, block effectively and use a variety of punches and kicks. The three rounds saw the Thai representative dominate the entire match and win convincingly on points.
The two most memorable knockouts of the night belonged to the young fighters in the 56kg category. In the MMA Pro format, Dinh Van Khuyen took just 16 seconds to knock out Bui Dinh Khai, marking one of the fastest victories in the history of the tournament. Van Khuyen’s powerful backhand punch continued to affirm that he is a big threat in this weight class.

In the opening match of the MMA Striking format, Tran Huy Hai – World Wushu Sanshou Gold Medalist – proved his mettle by calmly neutralizing the aggressive attacks of Vo Tien Dat. Taking advantage of the moment when his opponent was caught off guard, Huy Hai threw a powerful right punch that knocked Tien Dat down. Despite his efforts to stand up, Tien Dat was no longer alert enough to respond to the referee and had to accept his first knockout defeat at the LION Championship.
LION Championship 27 also recorded thrilling matches in other weight classes. In the MMA Striking 65kg final, Nguyen Van Lam showed outstanding performance when overwhelming Luu Huy Duc for three rounds to win, thereby officially entering the Top 10 MMA Pro 65kg group.
Besides, the victories of Phan Trong Hieu (against Tran Vi Quang), Kpa Thuan (against Nguyen Tan An), Tran Le Phi Khanh (against Vo Vu Le) and Pham Van Hao (against Tran Van Trong) also brought the audience a range of emotions from suspense to explosion.
Closing with a series of eye-catching moves and victories marked by strong technical marks, LION Championship 27 once again affirmed the appeal of Vietnamese mixed martial arts in the journey of professionalization.
The tournament will return with the LION Championship 28 event on November 8, held in Phu Quoc ( An Giang ), promising to continue to bring top competitions and new faces to the Vietnamese MMA scene.
